Villa just turned down a 15Million bid for Gareth Barry from Liverpool.

They are holding out for 20Million. When Torres was signed for 23Million, this seems f*cking stupid to me.

Yeah it's stupid isn't it, great player but no way near worth 20 million quid.

Side note to Mr Platini and Mr Blatter, this is why the 6+5 rule will never work, the English players prices are way to steep and this is why English teams look abroad for the talent.

I'm sure UEFA will be gutted if the English clubs are harmed!

6+5 will never work because it's completely illegal unless you want to ban all the EU clubs from playing.

You watch. Deco will come to Chelsea this summer, I can feel it in me bones now Scolari has the job.

Deco once said he wants to play for Bayern. But Bayern didnt want him. I think that Deco is an overrated player. He WAS good. But now, he's just an average midfielder in my opinion.

Both Barcelona and Chelsea are aiming for Spain striker David Villa. Chelsea seem to have the upper hand at the moment considering the amount of money that will go in if Chelsea are desperate to have him. After all, we have to fill the Drogba void if he leaves.

Yeah, you have a point Seddo. Enlgish players are ridiculously highly-priced. Examples: Darren Bent for £16.5m, and more recently, that Aaron Ramsey to Arsenal for £5m (which is amazing, he'd be in my year at school!)

Aaron Ramsey is Welsh wink.gif

But yes British talent is always overpriced. Look at Theo, I’m glad we managed to get a good deal out of it but he was not worth that amount and wont be for many years to come yet.

Buzzah.

I don't really know what to make out from this, though. Pinto da Costa was a brilliant businessman and the sole reason Porto doesn't have a washed up football oldie acting as scout for Porto. I also don't think Porto would have any less success if the accusations are true.

Reading they are trying to unsettle Kaka. Maybe big Phil can bring him to Chelsea. They say he will bring Ronaldinho to the bridge maybe aswell.

Hes getting a hefty transfer budget.

Just as long as they don't turn Chelsea into Real Madrid, it was sad seeing Real sort of sink. Dream teams don't work.

And i'm sure the supporters of the other 19 Premiership clubs would love to see the exact opposite, i know i would love to see Chelsea slip down to competing for 5th's, 6th's and 7th's just like before the Abramovic era biggrin.gif.

And i tell you FIFA and UEFA are completely sh*te, why make decisions and then go back on them a couple of weeks later, just like the point deductions and relegations they gave the Italian teams for match fixing, a couple of weeks late most of it gets overhauled and now the same with the Porto decision.

I would like to see Ronnie play for us especially as he would only be about ~20M now, he has the flair that Abromavich craves. He is still only 28 and played some of his best football under Scolari. Would be a great marketing scheme for us as well, imagine Chelsea shirts with ronaldinho on the back inlove.gif

His agent and Brother has refused to rule out a possible move to Chelsea... For fudge sake, I take it you've no idea how they negotiate deals in football, that is pure and total 'Agent Speak' they say that another club is interested, even though they aren't, and it makes the other club come up with a better offer for their player who they represent to match an offer that doesn't exist, it's been going on for years.

I think a few clubs should be worried about Big Phils transfer funds.

Torres again been linked with a Chelsea offer, even though they have said he isnt for sale.

Even if its not true its pretty unsettling for the player.

Ronaldinho seems to have requested Scolari to get him to Chelsea; and considering Scolari's love for Brazilian players, we might just get to see him in a blue shirt at Stamford. wink.gif

Also, Eto and Deco for 55mn isn't a bad deal either. Chelsea will have to part with Drogba and Shevchenko though. As it is, Shevchenko's full potential never came out of the closet at Chelsea.

@Seddo: Your dream of seeing Chelsea slip down will be just that - a dream. Unfulfilled I may add. sigh.gif

Not sure id trade Drogba for Eto or Deco to be honest.

Drogba is probably one of the best strikers in the world right now.

Id try and keep him, and hes saying he aint gona leave anyway.

There were reports that Chelsea would be ready to let him go if he wishes and has also allowed him to have talks with other clubs. Mourinho would want him, wouldn't he?

@Eeshan: Considering that club football is played more than International football, I would say club football.

Sooner or later Ambamovic will get bored of football and move on to something else and when he does things will change, Chelsea will no longer have the funds to keep all these world class players on high wages and will have a clear out like Leeds did and look where they're now, unless they get another billionaire in who is also not bothered about throwing millions at any player.

I'm looking forward to United's fall aswell, when Ferguson retires in 2010/2011 (or when ever it's supposed to be) it is going to be one f*cking mammoth of a challenge to succeed him and do just as well.

@Noxa, yeah Zola was a quality footballer, was gutted when he left the premiership, i didn't mind Chelsea back in the day though.

That's a pretty far fetched issue and by that time, Chelsea might have earned lots to keep themselves going. So, practically speaking I don't see Chelsea slipping down atleast for the next 10 years or so.

And can you never spell Abramovich right or are those typos deliberate? sly.gif

Er-hum, I thought you were talking about the possible speculation surrounding Ronaldinho moving to Chelsea, but regardless you also didn't read what I wrote in regards to paraphrasing Ronaldinho's brother/agent. But you also directed the comment at me and me being a City fan read that as 'ha, ha you're not getting Ronny, Chelsea are'... even though nothing has been done about it.

Besides as someone has pointed out to me there are several factors which would sway Ronny to come to City, first Ronny has a deal with Nike which means that he would lose a bag full of money from them should he choose to switch to a team who relies heavily on Adidas. City on the other hand who currently have their shirts manufactured by Le Coq Sportif will most probably (almost definitely) be changing over to Nike from the 09/10 season because our new Chief Executive, Garry Cook was the former Vice President with Nike and help to set up deals with major players like Ronny, so the deal will be able to stay in place with Ronny when he comes to City.

Also the papers are now saying Robinho for Chelsea, which makes me think they can't spell Ronald.

Yep and then we will see the mighty Liverpool rise. As their owners are extremely top class and will never have any problems at all and will stay at the club forever. Then finally we will see Liverpool relive their history.

Mike Ashley will stay at Newcastle at least, so we'll be fine...

I doubt.

EDIT:

Also read that Davide Petrucci of Roma, 16 year old "next Totti", has been snapped up by Man Utd.

Manchester United have come under fire after signing one of Italy's most promising young strikers.

Just days after they were pipped by Arsenal to the signature of 17-year-old Cardiff midfielder Aaron Ramsey, United snapped up Davide Petrucci, 16, who scored 14 goals in 19 matches last season and was the top scorer in Roma's youth team. He has also starred for Italy's under-17 team.

United will pay Petrucci £95,000 a year and will cover the cost of regular flights home to Italy, while his father, Stefano, has been offered a job as a groundsman at United. The deal for Petrucci is the maximum permissible offer for a youth-team player. Roma will receive around £200,000 in compensation but the move has caused fury.

"It is a nightmare," said Il Romanista, a newspaper dedicated to Roma. "Manchester United have dealt us another low blow, stealing Petrucci from under our noses, probably the best product of our youth system. In three to four years, he will be worth 100 times as much."

Petrucci, who comes from the San Basilio suburb of Rome, has been compared to a young Francesco Totti and could have made the first-team squad next year. However, Roma offered him a contract worth only £16,000 a year, the basic youth-team deal. Petrucci was also said to be concerned that he had not already been called up to the first team. Totti made his debut in 1993 when he was 16.

Bruno Conti, Roma's technical director, said the club were unwilling to improve the terms because it would upset other youth-team players who had already signed similar deals, including Riccardo Brosco, a defender who has already been promoted to the full squad. Conti said Petrucci would have been given opportunities to show his value next season.

Petrucci explained his decision to leave Roma, who are unable to contest the signing as Italian rules state it is impossible to offer a professional contract to anyone under 17 and Petrucci's birthday is in October.

“A month ago Roma offered me a contract at the minimum rate, without clarifying whether it would be for three or five years," he said." I asked for a bit of time to think about it, Man Utd had already made their proposal, but Roma only gave me three days and left me out of the squad. To a certain extent they closed the door on me while Man Utd opened a big door.”

Petrucci admitted leaving his hometown club would be very difficult.

“You can’t just forget six years at Roma. I was born a Roma fan and I will be one for the rest of my life,” he said. "But this is a great opportunity, I'm going to to the strongest club in the world. It was difficult to say no, even if I would have been very happy to spend my whole career at Roma.

Petrucci said he will begin training at United's youth academy on July 1.

Roma have a history of developing youth players. Daniele De Rossi and Alberto Aquilani have come through the system in the past two years and are now playing for Italy. .

Meanwhile, Patrice Evra has signed on for four more years at United. His contract extension is worth £75,000 a week. "United is more than a club, it is a family," said Evra. "I'm proud to be a part of it."

I think it's ridiculous how, because of some ruling, English clubs (namely Man Utd, Arsenal and Chelsea but more recently Liverpool too) are getting to sign up foreign talent and stealing the products of other clubs youth systems. Roma have invested in that player and yet they make a mere £200,000 in compensation. I highly doubt this guy will be seeing any first team experence any time soon, whereas Roma offered him some next season. It goes to show how money-orientated football is.

Whilst we're around the subject of Man Utd, I always get annoyed at Alex Fergusen hyprotical comments. Recently, he has whined on about the illegal approach by Real Madrid of Cristiano Ronaldo. However, back when Jaap Stam was at PSV, Ferguson did the exact same thing. Stam confirmed it in his autobiography. In the past year, he has also complained about managers and their outbursts of anger directed at match officials and the referees. However, weeks later he was guilty of this and was, rightly, put in his place by Roy Keane. That's one of the few times I've agreed with Keane.

LA Galaxy beat San Jose 3-0. Beckham didn't too much, got some nice touches though.

Edson Buddle scored all three goals. His 2nd hat trick of the season. I said it once I'll say it again, that guy is going places.

Where are LA in the table now? I can remember last season being a bit of a dissapointment for them, I think a lot of people expected Beckham to score a hat trick in every game.

I remember when Liverpool snapped up the new 'Zidanne' and 'Henry' in signing Le Tallec and Pongolle and both were nothing more than pretty average, Pongolle was better than Le Tallec but still not a big impact. the same when we signed a young Milan Baros, he was supposed to the big next thing and again failed.

I think it's harsh putting all these youngsters under pressure by saying things like 'the next best thing' and the 'new (insert player name here'). Should just leave them alone and let them progress and learn on their own.
