From an overseas perspective, EPL games being shipped off to other countries is a huge excitment. For Australians, our best quality of soccer would be our A-League. It has the same standards are your Champoinship League or maybe even League One sides.

Every soccer fan in the state would be wanting tickets, and even lots out of state.

Teams such as Derby, Sunderland, Birmingham and Fulham would easily attract a full house in the Telstra Dome (capacity of 50,000).

If we draw any of the big four teams, or even teams like Newcastle, Everton and Man. City, we would have to play them in the MCG (capacity of 100,000) and the game would be booked out in a matter of minutes I would imagine.

To see these teams come out here would be absolutely awesome.

I really hope it happens.

wow, Well i guess we dont Appreciate how lucky we are to have premiership football every weekend. And from now on im going to take better care of my season ticket tounge.gif .

But the only probalem with playing a Premiership match else where wouldnt be filling the stadium. Or anything. I think the reason im against it is, like Runey said. It would turn the game from a a Great British past time. To a money driven specatacle. The passion and the excitement could be lost from the game.

Because any sane supporter does not want to watch patient, passing-around type of football. That is the prime reason why the English team never made any roads internationally, and why Spain and Italy are so good to watch (except for the Italian diving, of course).

Atleast we have an Italian manage to get us to play patient, passing and possession keep football, hopefully he will get us somewhere and then the "boo boys" will soon shut up.

Another little cock up in the playing premiership football abroad is a couple of teams playing in Australia and fly for 24 hours and then another couple of teams play in Africa and fly for about 7-8 hours, then the following Saturday/Sunday the teams play each other, look at the air millage difference, that's going to be very unfair.

Not to say the jetlag, severe fatigue players will also suffer from.

There's something I forgot to mention after the England game - Wtf is wrong with some of the fans?! when we were passing the ball around in the first half, I noticed some loud booing, not from the swiss either, come on people, encourage your country, not boo them!

Funny you should say Spain and Italy because Capello won the league in both those countries...

Can't wait till MoTD, we (Villa) were 1-0 down at half time and ended the game 4-1. biggrin.gif

An English pastime. wink.gif

Personally I think it's a bad idea. Premier League clubs get millions of punds from television income anyway- it's not like they need to go overseas to avoid bankruptcy.

My views are mixed. I would love to see United (or anyone) play a match at the Telstra Dome. On the other hand, it just shows that the clubs are now more focused on money, rather than the actual game itself. This signifies the game of football, as we know it, is dead. Friendlies I can understand, but actual league games overseas I cannot.

I do not think it would be bad if it incorporates a single round. If they add a 39th game, that would be stupid and unfair for lower teams and higher teams. If, on that 39th round, there are two teams (A and B) locked on points at the top of the league, they play the 39th round. Let us also say that they are equal on goal difference. Team A plays Derby, and they win 4-0. Team B plays Liverpool, and they draw 1-1. Team A unfairly wins the league because of one extra game.

Actually, not so. The games abroad are going to be played at the End of the season, that's the only reason why clubs have agreed.

Ah right, never heard that bit.

Might be a bit of a ball ache if an English team gets into the Champions League/UEFA Cup final though with all that unneeded traveling.

Well, perhaps they could do what AC Milan did in Serie A; if a team is playing in the final, they could possibly delay that league match until after the match, as to not cause problems. If memory serves me correct, Milan delayed their league match by more then a month to accomodate their Club World Cup commitments.

I thought the games were going to be played around January time, depending on what day New Year's Day falls on?

lol i actually changed ot from English to British just before i posted. tounge.gif

But anyway. I was just thinking, what about season ticket holders? If their team is playing abroad then their money towards that home match will be wasted if they cant fly out there. confused.gif It just seems like a bad idea all round. And i have so much respect for fergie speaking out against it.

What about those people who haven't missed a match in 20 years or something, are the clubs going to pay for them, don't think so.

Wha-?

It is those baggy shorts, I tell you! At least Chelsea mucked up against Liverpool; it keeps a little buffer. Goodness, I hope Arsenal lose tomorrow.

Meanwhile, in Spain, Real Madrid extend their buffer to 8 points by winning 7-0 against Valladolid. At least one of my teams won, thankfully.

Great results for Everton today, Liverpool dropped one of their games in hand. We still have a good gap between.

You weren't the only one blush.gif. I'm telling you though if Torres was playing we would of won this game, the amount of chances Crocuh and Kuyt missed/wasted between them is crazy, we need another 20 million pound striker in the summer.

Also MUTD wtf how did they manage to lose?

Easy, they got beat by a better team on the day.

Also haven't Egypt won the African Nations cup twice on the run now?.

How much did you win Eddie?.

Richards and Dunne both had great games in the center of defence for City, Hamman played great aswell in a sort of sweeper in midfield, that's what he use to do for us <3.

I'll tell you what, i'm f*cking gutted we didn't beat Chelsea, we had so many chances to do so sad.gif, and what the f*ck was Riise thinking late in the game blasted a header towards are own goal, good job Reina was awake.

Just love the MoTD people, when Mascherano hit the ball and the ref fell and he's saying he could of broke his ankle and see there laughing then saying they shouldn't laugh but we will anyway lol.gif.

I thought they were the favourites prior to the tournament?

If I were a betting man, Ivory Coast would've had my bet from the start, good job I'm not.

Yeah on 2 good 2 bad biggrin.gif.

It depends which Blackburn team turn up tonight which will be the out come of the score. If the good team comes it's going to be a pretty hard match for Arsenal but it will be a walk in the park if the sh*t Blackburn comes up.

Although i would rather have Arsenal win the Premier League over United or Chelsea.
