RMT
This mission is driving me insane (pun intended). You take Louise out to this Quad race, fine yeah - start of game, do the race but came second. Thought it wouldn't matter as it was just showing me the racing system. Mission failed? why on earth would I need to win the race? all I'm doing is taking this woman out because she has troubles. She's not tied to a tree and I have to race for her life. Seems retarded. But I've tried more times to complete it (about 5 or 6). And no joy. It doesn't help when the quad corners like a aircraft carrier and the AI can turn on the spot. It's where I lose places. I keep trying with the handbrake and even smashing into walls and objects to straighten up but no joy. So anyone got any tips? or perhaps know a way I can even the odds EDIT: Bloody typical. I post for help and I go and complete it first try. Anyone else stuck on this I suggest you keep at it. I think in mine the AI either got stuck or took each other out. Keep at it! essteeyou
I didn't find this one to be a problem. To begin with I thought that the object of the mission would be to show Louise a good time. Now, most guys know that you should let the lady win so I spent the first lap getting Louise ahead of the other two guys and then I kept them behind her for the rest of the race. I came in a comfortable second place and failed the mission o_O Apparently the object is to make her feel like a loser. Second time I blasted them all from start to finish. Tips Nudge the analogue stick, don't hold it down in any one direction for too long. Don't brake, just release the accelerator and let it glide a bit. (If you have to brake then do it in a straight line.) When gliding around a corner apply the accelerator when you're pointing where you want to go. Don't worry too much about going through the pink areas, going near them is good enough. If you're at the side of a player as you're going through the narrow gates then cut it fine and he'll crash into the gate. The same applies with trees and trailers. Hope this helps. Tommy B
I had problems with this one, too. After about 50 tries, I finally figured it out. Since the course is (for the most part) in a counter-clockwise direction (mostly left turns), stay on the inside of each turn. If you start having problems with the turn and another driver catches up to you, you can bounce off of them into the turn. This puts you back on track, and shoves them off course. Do this enough, and you'll take first place easy. And yeah, it's a stupid f**king mission to be that hard that early in the game, with nothing really at stake. essteeyou
It's not that difficult... It's way less difficult than that remote control plane mission in San Fierro in GTA:SA. That had me shouting and swearing at my PS2. It's about the same percentage through SA as this quad race is through VCS.
d00d
This one took me three tries, just to get the handling right. This was the way I drove... First off, fail the mission if you must. Get a feel of the course, try and notice where the sharpest bends start so you can plan in good time, and beware of pits and dips in the construction area. After that, the way I drove was simple - floor it all the way - and when a turn comes up, brake harshly without turning then turn and accelerate. irondiva
I had a hard time with this, too. I hate when GTA has "necessary" races. It took me forever, but it's just a lot of practice, and seeing what does/doesn't work. Basically, what everyone else said to do, is what works. I hated this mission so much, I looked back fondly on Flight School in SA!

Parksey
I also found thsi mission a little tricky.... It took me 2 or 3 goes to complete.... But the thing i discovered was when you take a corner dont just press left or right push up and left or up and right and the quad has better grip. I found this because the quad kept lift up when i was takin corners making the cornering sh*t..
CurrentlyCarrotfoot
For some reason I found this easy. Your quad should blast past them in terms of speed. And yes, the cornering is quite heavy and stiff, not sure why. I really like the quads actually.
CTM
There's a lot of sound advice in this thread. Some other stuff I'd recommend to people who haven't attmpted this mission yet, or are having major trouble passing it: There are loads of bumps in the ground (as d00d said), so you might find this mission a lot easier if you attempt it in daytime so you can see the bumps well in advance, as opposed to hitting them as you see them in your headlights. If you fall off the Quad and end up in last position when you get back on, it's not worth carrying on. Save yourself some effort by failing the mission (blowing up your Quad, killing another competitor, etc) and start again. At the start of the race, floor it. Hard. You should be first as you enter the first (left) corner. Ignore the other drivers - don't be tempted to smack into them to take them out of the race - they'll leave you alone in return. Race the course, not the other drivers. If you're still having major trouble passing the mission even after taking all of the advice in this thread, abuse the fact that you can pause the game after hitting each checkpoint. Like the GTA:SA races, the next checkpoint is shown in a dimmer colour on the radar. Pause the game and plan your route to the next checkpoint. (This shouldn't really be necessary, but you'll definitely come first if you do this )
HJ123
I also found the handling of the Quad bike frustrating. My solution after 3 or 4 turns of this mission was to change the controls from analogue to D-pad and I completed the mission on my first try. hot-devil
This Mission is Hard because: 1. There were too many Bends, Curves and Obstacles in the trailer Park. 2. The Quad's Handling were like the PCJ-600's in VC, BAD. (You keep falling off the bike) I find that if you RELAX, get a grip on yourself and just try hard, you will pass the mission in only one try. Catch up with your opponents in Straight Lines, not Curves and Slow Down on Bumps or you will fall off your Quad. DO NOT press Square at any one time, only unless you are Stuck and have to Reverse. When cutting corners and Turning, 1. Tap the Handbrake while holding X to Drift around Sharp Corners. 2. Let go of X and turn if it just means turning and going in the Park through the Fences. Also, do not go at full speed while in the trailer park or you will crash. I found that your opponents WILL most likely crash at the trailer park, so, SLOW DOWN and Drive carefully and you will win the race in no time. Do you realize that: Most of the Difficult Missions take place in the First Island?
