romwack Posted November 14, 2006 Share Posted November 14, 2006 So my questions are as follows:- Are the above assumptions correct (that I can do this through FW2.71/HEN-C/DevHook)? - If so, will I need to use an ISO for the FW2.71/HEN-C/DevHook method or is there any way to get both CheatDevice and GTA:VCS running on a TA-082 PSP from the UMD itself? - I assume that upgrading to FW2.71 will cause the LCS "save-game-based" CheatDevice to stop working, so I'd need to switch to the PRX version and run it through HEN-C/Devhook as well (but emulating something like FW 2.0 instead)? - I believe you can run Devhook from HEN-C yes. Never done it though. - You will need an ISO. Devhook will not run the UMD; 2.71 SE-B" will though. - Yes, you'd put the prx in with Devhook and put Devhook in the 2.xx -> 2.00 mode (default anyway I believe). You should seriously consider using 2.71 SE-B" if you can, it's great! I have the cheat device in the PSP's flash so it runs from boot without using DH. Today I recived my 2GB Memory Stick and wanted to dump my UMD on the Stick to play VCS under DevHook with CD-support. But FastLoader v0.7 (I used to dump) freezs after 10% dumping. I dont know why. Warp3 Posted November 16, 2006 Share Posted November 16, 2006 (edited) Well as of these evening I was finally running GTA:VCS (ripped to ISO via FastLoader) through FW2.71, HEN-C and Devhook Launcher for FW2.71 on my TA-082 PSP. I haven't messed with installing the CheatDevice PRX yet (I was too busy hunting down red balloons ), but that's my plan for after work tomorrow. A few things I learned along the way: - You do NOT have to emulate 1.5 then emulate 2.71 again to run VCS. You can load the ISO directly using the DevHook Launcher for FW2.71 choosing "2.71 Flash" as your firmware option and it works fine. (Whether CheatDevice works this way or not, I haven't a clue yet. Also note that you do have to use the 1.50 emulation to run FastLoader, though.) - 2GB MS Pro Duo cards aren't cheap. I bought two of them today (genuine Sony ones, which oddly enough were $10 cheaper than the identical spec SanDisk cards) and they cost me more than my whole used PSP combo did (PSP + 2 games + 512MB SanDisk MS Duo + 1 UMD movie). - After ripping the ISO with FastLoader you need to rename the dump file to have .iso on the end or it will not show up in DevHook! (This one had me scratching my head for a while as neither program's documentation makes any note of the need for a ".iso" extension.) - Holy crap does VCS load fast from an ISO! There is no need to emulate 1.50 then emulate back to 2.71, you are just making extra work for yourself. Trigger the HEN-C TIFF file from FW2.71, then launch DevHook Launcher 0.4x for FW2.71 and choose 2.71 Flash (2.71F) as the firmware version, pick your ISO file and set it to 2.xx -> 2.00 under the "other options" menu then choose "Start" from the main DevHook menu. Once you are back to the regular PSP interface pop in a UMD (any UMD) and click the UMD to start your ISO game. NOTE: If you opt to use the 2.71 Flash method, make sure you edit the TXT file in the 271F folder when installing CheatDevice instead of the one in the 271 folder. chrislawrance Posted November 20, 2006 Share Posted November 20, 2006 ok ive been driving myself round the bend with this problem. i have a 512MB card (so i cant run VCS from MS) so i opted for the USBHOSTFS way of working. ive got the iso to show up on devhook mod but when i try to load the iso it comes up VCS.iso at the bottom when the XMB is loading but freezes after 2 seconds on the XMB (this is the time it would usually read the UMD) i have also used the usbhostfs.prx with daxziso loader but when i choose the iso on daxziso loader with direct load it just comes up with a black screen. has any1 got the iso to run via usbhostfs on devhook or daxziso? im running hen c 2.71 (and don't go telling me to downgrade as i don't want to) Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

Thanx a lot, Greetz, Stiruam I had that problem too so I just flashed the VCS CD to the firmware. Of course if your Flash0 is almost full with other plugins then you may have a problem. But i have to aim to get the correct picture. I cant take a screenshot when holdin R-Button. wardog256 Posted December 14, 2006 Share Posted December 14, 2006 my psp is 1.50 an im emulating 2.82 with dev hook 0.50 (just incase this info is relevant) i tried to instal cheatdevice manually and it didnt work. then i used the auto installer and still nothing happened. is there something else i didnt do? do i need to change a certain setting in dev hook? idk if its supposed to do this, but a new save file didnt pop up. idk if this cheatdevice works from a save file like the LCS one. plz help me. im scared...
