well that kinda sucks. i want to try it but for now thankfully i'm at uni now and one of my house mates has lent me his psp....ha ha ha hes not getting it back for like a year!!!!

 

if i have time i'll get around to trying this, but i only have like 4 1gb sticks

Today i bought VCS in the netherlands(where i live). Glad i have it so i can start on the missions on the dutch WiKiGTA.

 

But i want to make screens that i can place by the missions description.

 

So i did a search and find all the stuff that was nessary(devhook and cheatdevice). I installed everyting on my psp.

 

But when i want to boot the UMD from devhook the game still ask to update to 2.81. Do you know what i can maybe doing wrong?

You cant play the umd with devhook, only the ISO. You have to have 2.71 se-b3 to play umd.

- Inside NEWINSTALL/PSP/GAME you will see 4 folders. Copy seupdmaker and seupdmaker% to /PSP/GAME/

 

- Get the 1.50 and 2.71 sony updaters in the seupdmaker folder with the names "150.PBP" and "271.PBP".

 

- Run the program. This program won't write to the flash, it will just create a file called DATA.DXAR in the

same directory (seupdmaker).

 

- The program will verify that the SHA-1 of the generated file is correct.

 

- Once that you have done this, you can save the DATA.DXAR file to skip this step in the future.

 

Flashing 2.71 SE

----------------

 

- Copy the files NEWINSTALL/PSP/GAME/271seflasher and 271seflasher% to /PSP/GAME.

 

- Copy the generated DATA.DXAR file at 271seflasher directory.

This file, at release SE-B, should have ALWAYS the MD5 96B4E3ED430A591B077624FC326622AC

and SHA-1 9956936EADF91D578D4087499B7211B9429E99F7.

Anyways, this time, the dxar creator will have told you if the file was indeed correct.

 

- Run the flasher. If your battery is less than 75%, the program will show the error saying that

and will return to the XMB.

 

At petition of someone with battery problems, now this check can be by passed at your own risk;

Execute the program with triangle and L pressed.

 

- The program will continue showing an agreement. Press X to accept

  it and flash the custom firm, or R to cancel and exit to the XMB.

 

- If you accept, the program will flash the custom firmware. DONT shutdown the psp and DON'T

  quit the memory stick.

 

- After finished, you psp will be rebooted to XMB... of 2.71

nvm nvm but mine dosent have 1.50 and 2.71 sony updaters in the seupdmaker folder with the names "150.PBP" and "271.PBP". and i got some pink thing under games to intall and i started it and it said "opening and validating dxar file - non existing or corrupt now im lost please help

okay im new to the whol prx thing, does it work with 2.71 seb3? i used the installer for the cheat device, but when i use devhook to run vcs iso it doesent say anywhere about the cheat device or anythign abotu prx's. how do u run prx's?

Hey guys,

 

First off, I want to say this is a KICK ASS site. It's great how you can help us out EdisonCarter and everyone else who provides the tutorials, files, and helpful replies. I found them all easy to use and very informative.

 

Anyway, I used that VCS iFlasher. It worked like a charm. It pretty cool, but I was just wondering how I can update this cheatdevice. It says I can in the .nfo by just putting a new .prx in the root of my m.s.

 

If I do this, and run that iFlasher again, will it add to the list of codes or replace them completely? I like the codes I have now, but I want to expand the list ( I want that indestrucible car!!! )

 

Also, when I am done updating, can I remove that .prx from my m.s.?

Loading it as a ISO is a no-go not having a 2GB MS so I am right in saying my only option is updating to this 2.71 SE custom firmware thing combined with the swap trick which I am not familiar with. I from what I am reading know 2.71 allows all homebrew but if I want to go back to just 1.5 for instance when a new Devhook is released that supports emulating 2.81 firmware. Can you downgrade from this 2.71 SE Firmware?

Yes, you can downgrade to 1.5. Not that you'd want to! Devhook works from 2.71 SE as well.

 

Upgrade first to 2.71 SE-B, then apply the B' and B" patches in that order. You need 2.71 SE-B'' for GTA:VCS to work from the UMD.

 

I'm on 2.71 SE-B", playing VCS with the UMD and it works a treat!

I was wondering if anyone had a problem with the 2.1a CheatDevice. I had updated from the 2.0 so that I can have an indestructible car, but for some reason, the stopping time function does not work. Is there anyway to fix this?

Well reading the readme is usually where you'd start, but hey if that's not straight forward enough then finding some sort of guide on any of the PSP Forums around the net such as this One would be the next thing.

 

Still like has been said if you can only get that far then you really shouldn't be messing with this since there is a chance you can brick your PSP if you don't follow instructions correctly or do something stupid whilst its writing to the PSP's flash0 like remove the battery or do it on a flat battery.

I think the objective of downgrading or not upgrading to 2.81 is so that both the cheat device and various homebrew (such as emulators for older consoles/machines) can be still accessed by our PSP's. It is NOT for the purposes of copying or pirating the UMD's. Sadly both Rockstar and Sony have messed up by forcing upgrades as I would never had installed the software enabling disk copying if they handn't of botherd trying to force us to upgrade.

And no, it's perfectly legal to downgrade - just dodgy if you don't know what you're doing

I've read this thread and the others like it several times (as well as several posts on psp-hacks and other forums) and I'm still confused about a few things. Mainly I'm confused as most of these tutorials assume you don't have a TA-082 MB and thus have the option to downgrade. As such, the instructions tend to slightly gloss over the TA-082 owners' options.

 

What I have:

- PSP-1001 w/TA-082 MB

- FW 2.60

- Unpatched copy of GTA:LCS on UMD

- GTA:VCS on UMD

 

What I want to do:

- Run GTA:VCS with CheatDevice

- Maintain my current ability to run GTA:LCS with CheatDevice

 

From what I've read, the following are NOT options for me:

- Downgrading to 1.5 and using DevHook (due to the TA-082 MB)

- Using FW2.71 SE-B'' and a PRX flasher (as installing SE-B apparently requires downgrading to 1.5 first, which my PSP can't do)

 

What I think is an option, but I'm not positive based on the conflicting info I've read:

- Upgrade to the genuine Sony 2.71 then install HEN-C, DevHook Launcher, a FW1.5 dump, a FW2.71 dump and DevHook 0.46.

 

So my questions are as follows:

- Are the above assumptions correct (that I can do this through FW2.71/HEN-C/DevHook)?

- If so, will I need to use an ISO for the FW2.71/HEN-C/DevHook method or is there any way to get both CheatDevice and GTA:VCS running on a TA-082 PSP from the UMD itself?

- I assume that upgrading to FW2.71 will cause the LCS "save-game-based" CheatDevice to stop working, so I'd need to switch to the PRX version and run it through HEN-C/Devhook as well (but emulating something like FW 2.0 instead)?
