coin-god
BUMP could someone tell me why I can't check the U tile flip box? When i used this tuto, i just fliped the texture in paint. Never really got interest on fixing it other way.
Fanat GTA
BUMP could someone tell me why I can't check the U tile flip box? because you use face mapping, you need planar mapping. Or apply uvw unwrap modificator, push edit button and flip your faces

cj360
doublepost I know but how come in my pic above the texture spans across the whole plane and on xrk's pics it does not?
xrk
What I did in this tutorial was apply the texture, use the "uvw map" modifier and select face. Then apply the "unwrap uvw" modifier to rotate/flip. maybe ignore this \/\/ if max 8+ for this tutorial ...but the textures are wrong and needs to be fliped so check the U Tile flip box. max 7 is slightly different from 8 and above in the way those modifiers work iirc Edited May 1, 2009 by xrk

cj360
I did that but when applying the road texture it covers the pavement texture including polys not selected
Urban Legend
I wanted to give this a shot xrk, hope you like my road. (shot the textures with a camera) Texturing in sketchup for the 1st time, I could never get it done in Zmod. Same size curb for VC? xrk
I did that but when applying the road texture it covers the pavement texture including polys not selected Are you actually droping it on to the selected faces? @Urban Legend You made it in sketch up? cheat! Theres no need for those extra faces in the middle (the line divide), its better to do that with texture. tbh I dont understand why you've posted it in here, if its sketch-up? Spider-Vice
I seem to have problems with the path deform step, the model doesn't even follow the path, it's just like this: let your hopes and dreams turn into burning fire! Mark01
To me the best and easier way is to use loft I will probably make a tutorial about it when I will get some free time anyway If you want try it now: CREATE>GEOMETRY>COMPOUND OBJECTS>LOFT. There's another way to do it using SWEEP modifier too it's quite the same thing as loft but to me loft is more accurate and faster. Spider-Vice
Anyone on my problem? The road doesn't follow the path, it just gets like, deformed and it's pointing upwards? Yes I did every single step on the tuto correctly, even re-did. I use Max 2010. let your hopes and dreams turn into burning fire! mgri
Hi all, I realise this is an ooooold thread but I'd really love some help here. I am stuck early on where the texture is applied to path/curb. Can anyone explain why my texture gets added to all the polygons (path, curb, and roadsurface) rather than only the path and curb polygons that I've selected? The instructions I am stuck with are "Now select the pavement and kerb faces and drag the relevent texture from the folder onto the selected faces and go to the modifier list and choose UVW MAp then in the new parameters panel click Face" I am running 3dsmax 2008. Thanks guys, mgri
pmillett
a picture would help. If you selected the faces in "polygon" mode there shouldn't be an issue.
mgri
Thanks pmillet, here's a picture describing what happening. Basically when I drag and drop the texture onto the selected surface it applies to all the polygons. I am a total newb so I could easily be doing something dumb. Thanks for the help, mgri
