DEMO Availble on Xbox Live Marketplace for Xbox360

So past all the techinical stuff, I have been anticipating this game for awhile. This will be the first true Next Gen Tony Hawk game, as American Wasteland for the 360 was just a slight graphical update. I have played the demo, and let me say, this is the most realistic a skating game has been. Nail the Trick is an amazing new feature, easy to learn with the In-Demo Challenge that teaches you how to master it. Skaters no longer go 30 Mph, it takes time to build up speed, and the skating animations, this to Mo-Cap(Motion Capture) is as realistic as ever. I encourage all Xbox360 users to download the demo, as it will blow your mind.

Anyone else have any thoughts on the game?

I downloaded this demo this afternoon, and now, i know i will get this game, it's awesome. However at first it took me time to figure out how to use the "Nail the Trick" mode, as i would bail quite often at the start.

This demo is great, and after a while you really get into it, and you'll give it many replays, i know i did.

One thing that isn't realistic is the bails, they are pretty awful to be honest, it seems to me like a stiff rag-doll animation. Although it's only a minor thing.

I sugges everyone to give this a go if they own a 360 and an Xbox Live Account.

There's an in-demo tutorial on how to use "Nail A Trick" if you speak to Rodney Mullen around the skatepark. Once I'd accidentely spoken to him and he showed me how to do the whole Nail A Trick thing, the game got a lot more interesting. The graphics and animation are amazing, and the gameplay is consistent and fresh. Creating tricks is very fun, and I've pulled off some pretty cool moves using the system. Doubt I'll buy it as I'm not all that into skating, but it's a very good demo for screwing around with. smile.gif

^lol pwnt.

Nail a Trick is awesome I think, the animations and graphics are great too, but other than that I see hardly any difference whatsoever. When I saw the first trailer for the game I was well excited as I thought they were going to go the more realistic route, but it seems it's pretty much the same old thing.

I'd beg to differ, Dan. Granted I didn't play Wasteland, but it did look pretty stupid and highly unrealistic.

If they were to make it really life like, you'd be some wee sh*t who can only just pull an Ollie. biggrin.gif

I've really enjoyed messing about in the demo so far. Wouldn't mind getting to grips with the Nail-A-Trick a bit more as well.

All I've played was the demo and Ive already decided Neversoft have redeemed themselves. Sure its not the ultra-realistic skating game I was hoping for, but its still a huge improvement for the series. Plus EA is making a skating game that might (hopefully) take the realism route.

Nail the Trick is the bombdiggity btw.

I thought they were going to go the more realistic route, but it seems it's pretty much the same old thing.

Indeed, I was hoping that pulling off 720 Indy's or whatever would be a little harder to do this time round, but alas it's not. When I'm mucking about on the demo I try and refrain from doing all the unrealistic moves and concentrate on kickflips and the like. With Nail A Trick, at least you can do the kick tricks in more detail.

GTA3Freak-2001

Anyone remember the awesome THPS2 demo on PS0ne? That's what this Project 8 demo felt like for me, a demo that you want to play more then once. I thought it was great and possibly the series turning back into what it used to be as well as pushing forward what with the Nail The Trick mode. Everything felt much smoother and shows that they have put alot of work into the animation of tricks or rather the motion capture. Another great feature is you can view different tricks in a special trick viewer where you can move around and view it from different angles.

Downloaded the demo yesterday and at first was not very satisfied but I am gradually getting used to the game and getting more out of it. The nail a trick isn't as revolutionary as I thought it was going to be but I just need to keep using it and I'll soon get the most out of it. I also agree with Rob that the bails are a bit weird...

An amazing game.

I love it completely apart from 2 things.

1: A few tiny things that are messed up, such as bob goes to push as soon as you are about to do a trick ruining the feeling, usually when going over a hump. And things like rolling into ramps from grinds round quater pipes, I used to LOVE doing noseslides round lips from flat and rolling back in almost as soon as it started grinding, but now I cannot do that, and the worst thing is whenever you land the camera shakes, I dont like that at all, I like tricks to land smooth, you might be able to turn it off but I doubt it.

I love how you can turn down skater speed though, too bad grind speed isnt altered too.

2: The 360 controller was NOT designed for tony hawks games, its better than I thought but, sometimes it takes me at least 5 goes to do a hardflip or inward heelflip as the analog doesnt detect it being a diagonal position right, the dpad is better but even then, the dpad isnt a propper dpad and you need both analogs for the slow mo thing.

Overall after a few tiny things I dont like and the crap controller It could be near perfect if those were fixed but It is still much better and satisfying than all the previous games.

Now I mostly just want to see all the new looks for all the flip and grab tricks, and one major thing that I hope is fixed is the rock fakie, it has been messed up since THPS2 and it should be better now.

Also I cant wait to play on a propper street level.

And Bob Burnquist looks like Glyn in this. catspider.gif

Holy f*ck, is that a Dev Kit or does Tony Hawk actually on a black xbox 360?

And about the demo, I was immediately hooked to it. Definitely getting it before any other game.

Word, except replace the flip things with airwalk my favorite trick of all time inlove.gif (not sure why, but I just love it). I used to always use the d-pad for tricks when I played every other Tony Hawk game, but now since I'm getting used to my new xbox, I started using the analog sad.gif . Hopefully I can change the controls for tricks and all that in the full game.

Anyways, this demo rules. I'm definitely getting this game as soon as it's out! Most demos I'll play once or twice, but I'm hooked on this one. I can't stop playing it! In fact, I'm gonna go play it now.

I finally got my 360 yesterday biggrin.gif

Downloaded the demo and all I can say is brilliant, awesome soundtrack, graphics, it felt like playing THPS2 back on PS. I haven't really enjoyed any of the TH games since THPS2 but the demo so far really did impress me.

Definately on my list of games to buy.
