I downloaded the custom firmware stuff And tried to install it. The install froze. Aperently cuz i dont have folders or somethin. I tried to use the update thing under it, but dont know how to install it. Can someone maybe give me the link to what I need(custom FW 2.71(something) ??) and tell me what to download..and tell me exactly how to install. edit: Well, I might as well forget about cheat device. My normal comp. is broken, and don't have the money to fix it. Im using my dad's comp at the moment. It has a total of 2 MB of free space on it I can't even download something for a minute just to install it on my psp! You know what it’s all about by now… Another 2.71 SE-B update from Dark_AleX — this one primarily focuses on UMD/ISO stability resulting in better support for all your favourite ISOs and UMDs. So here it is, 2.71 SE-B'’ or SE-B3 as referred to by some. Added SFO version bypass to real umd’s. (this should enable gta vcs umd to be played). Fixed the problem of error 0×8002012D in certain games when plain modules are enabled. Because the problem is gone, the updater will reset the option of plain modules to enabled. If for some reason you still have that error, report it and disable the option, but it should be fixed now. Found and corrected 3 bugs regarding no umd. One of them affected Virtual Tennis and potentially a lot of other games. The other two affected GTA LCS and GTA VCS. Some games like Burnout Legend still don’t run in no-umd because of what seems a kernel stack problem. Enjoy another fine Revision B release from Dark_AleX! So for those who have a small memory card, if you can't wait any longer to play the game, you could upgrade your firmware to 2.71SE-B3 and play straight off the UMD. If you wait a little more, I don't know why it wouldn't be possible to emulate 2.71SE-B3 in DevHook. We have to see how that sorts out. If that works, that's a complete solution. SUMMARY ----------- options right now: - If you have a 2GB memory stick you can dump your own disk to an iso and run the game and cheatdevice in DevHook emulating 2.71. - If you have a smaller memory stick, if you're on 2.71SE-B you can play the game for now by doing the bait-and-switch disk swap trick, or if you have 2.71SE-B3 you could play it without the swap trick. options if you wait: - If it's possible to emulate 2.71SE-B3 in DevHook, you'll be able to play VCS off the UMD and use cheatdevice. -DeMoN- Posted November 2, 2006 Share Posted November 2, 2006 edison, the only problem with dumping the 2.71 SE-B3 firmware is that its not an EBOOT. There is no DATA.PSAR to use. His program takes the 1.5 and 2.71 update files, extracts them, modifies them, then combines them into one DXAR file which the flashing program then uses. I think the only way we would see a dumped 2.71 SE-B3 firmware is if Dark_Alex himself released it. But your right, Devhook emulation of 2.71 SE-B3 would solve all our problems. I spent most of my day (when i wasn't at college) trying to get VCS to run. I was on custom firmware 1.5 and using DevHook to run 2.71. I had a lot of trouble but finally have it working, so i though i'd summarise for everyone who is stuck. 1) First off, if you're on 2.71, you need to downgrade to 1.5 (If you're already running 1.5 you can skip this) Download DOWNGRADER Download FIRMWARE 2.71 Download FIRMWARE 1.5 Follow the instructions included in the downgrader. Once you have successfully downgraded, proceed to step 2 2) Now you need to install the 2.71 Custom Firmware by Dark_AleX (Legend!!) Download 2.71 SE B Follow the instructions included in this download, using the 2.71 and 1.5 firmwares you downloaded, to upgrade to this custom 2.71 firmware (the readme in the download explains all!) 3) Now you need to run the updates for the custom firmware Download 2.71 SE B' Download 2.71 SE B'' Make sure you follow the readmes carefully, putting the updaters in the correct folders, and running B' first, then B'' 4) You're DONE! GTA VCS will now run directly off the UMD. However, if you want to use the cheat device, you'll need to run VCS using devhook. Thank's to the brilliant Edison Carter you can now download the VCS cheat device prx file from www.maxbot.com Unfortunately, DevHook does not currently work with VCS, although fingers crossed these clever people are going to figure something out soon! In the mean time, you can play VCS on your custom 2.71 firmware. Keep checking back to see if they've cracked this little DevHook cheat device problem 5) If you have GTA LCS, or you want to be prepared for when VCS starts working with devhook, you can download the latest version here. You can download the GTA LCS prx file from www.maxbot.com, and follow all the readme's to get playing! GOOD LUCK! Hope this helps someone. Would anyone have a good link to a 2.71 > 1.5 downgrader? Some reason I don't understand the one posted above. I dont want a "lite" one were I gotta find all the files.
