At last. great thanks i live in aus so it dont matter at moment coz i dont get it for another week or so but can i do that with 2.01 or do i hav 2 upgrade to 2.71 and as i sed b4 can i use a cheat device of some kind ??? And if i choose to upgrade anytime in the future, my PSP won't brick or crap-out in the process? Done&Done. I managed to get GTA VCS UMD to work doing this trick on my PSP. I had to install 2.71SE-B for this, which I think is the FW used in the clip. To load the game: 1. Install 2.71 SE-B on your PSP 2. Turn on PSP 3. Insert Demo UMD 4. When you see the picture of the demo (not the UMD icon), get ready 5. Press X 6. TIMING IS IMPORTANT HERE Before the end of the PSP music, eject your Demo UMD and replace with VCS UMD 7. The game loads. IMPORTANT NOTICE: The swap trick is confimed to work for the UMD, only with 2.71 SE-B. It does not work through DevHook as far as I know, and I also discovered that IT DOES NOT WORK with 2.71 SE revision B'. I had to flash back to 2.71 SE-B. I tought I'd let you know and perhaps it will enlighten those who are working on a patch for 2.71 SE-B for no-disk swap. %) Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
chrislawrance Posted November 1, 2006 Share Posted November 1, 2006 (edited) im going to wait till this is hacked before i get VCS. i only have a 512MB card so i cant put the iso on my psp and i don't have any software to dump iso's through USB although i think IRSHELL allows you to run ISO's from usb through usbhost. hopefully this will be solved by UK release thats a point has anyone tried launching this game through IRSHELL? i can launch burnout legends through IRSHELL running 1.5 when it needs 1.52. makaveli 7 try running your game through IR SHELL. just thinking of theories until i can try for myself but by the time i have the game then it will probably be resolved. EvilGTAplaya Posted November 1, 2006 Share Posted November 1, 2006 If you want to use the UMD (not an ISO): You must use the disc-swapping trick with the 2.71 SE-B firmware (you can get it here). I used my copy of GTA LCS and it worked on my second try. Prior to installing 2.71 SE-B, I had firmware 1.50 (and emulated to 2.71 using devhook). You cannot use the UMD with firmware 1.50 and devhook 0.46! I tried it with a few different releases of DH .46, it never worked (yes, I was doing it correctly). I even tried the disc-swapping trick on 2.71, it still didn't work. However, from what I hear, you can use an ISO on on 1.5 (with dh) and 2.71 SE/HEN. To reiterate, I can confirm that the UMD will not play on version 1.50 with devhook emulating 2.71. However, if you install 2.71 SE-B, you can use the disc-swapping trick to play the UMD. Rumors are spreading that 2.82 already has been emulated so all will be gravy when Booster or whoever finally releases the devhook update. I have no clue, but that's the question I was asking until I upgraded to SE-B. I just know that, for me, the swap trick worked on 2.71 SE-B on the 2nd try and didn't work after about 10 tries on emulated 2.71.
