.Col loading list in SA

I'm having some issues figuring out how San Andreas loads its collision files.

 

I made a mod a while back for gta3 where i did a little remake type city with MEd using existing objects in the game from different areas of the maps. (refer to here for details)

in gta3 in the gta3.dat all i had to do is have it setup like this:

now, its not the most efficent way of doing this, but needless to say, it worked. Basicly all the .col files where loaded at the same time, making the objects in my modded area, have collision.

But back to my problem. I've been wanting to start a similar mod for San Andreas.

The gta.dat file looks pretty much the same but it doesn't have the "#collision data" section.

 

Where does San Andreas grab this info from?

 

Any help is most appreciated

Sa loads them from an img, be it the gta3.img or one you add yourself.

from what file within the gta3.img? where can i find this list?

(sorry if i wasn't clear)

There is no list. The col files in the img, are named after the IDE files. For example, "data\maps\country\countn2.ide" uses all the countn2* collision files (larger collision files are broken up) in the gta3.img. In this case, there's 20 or so col files.

Theres no list, it doesn't work like that now.

If your after the Sa coll's they are in the gta3.IMG, if you want to add new coll's they go either in the gta3.IMG or you can add another img file and stick them in there.

SA parses ide files first, creates a list of objects internally, then loads all col files it can find inside the img archives, and tries to attach the col models to the appropriate object definitions (ide) if existing. So theoretically you could put all the game's col models (except for cars) in one single col file.

well considering the fact that I'm trying to get this to run on xbox, I'm pretty sure it would crash...

but still, this does spark some good ideas I can tweak around with, thanks smile.gif
