This is a cool alternative to packages and is in some ways a nice easter egg to the song 99 Luftballons by Nena.

 

Speaking of which in response to norniron1992, I doubt it will be on the VCS radio as it was on Wave 103 in Vice City. Funnily enough the song was released in 1983 so it may have been better suited to VCS.

You're just wrong. SA did not have "hidden packages". It had tags, snapshots, horseshoes, and oysters. GTA3, VC, and LCS had hidden packages.

 

I think the balloons will be the main collectable in VCS. (Whether they can contain drugs is another question because GTA3 and VC hidden package looked like some kind of drug container...)

 

Perhaps we'll see oysters as well. Since, Vic can swim, they could include like 50 oysters. But I think Vic will get better swimming skills from the Lifesaving Submission. So maybe the oysters won't be included I dunno...

 

I wonder what the reward for the balloons are... Just weapons I hope...

I agree fully, ybakker. If balloons aren't the onlt hidden package, there probably should be 50 oysters also.

i like this idea! whats great about it is that if you infact, have to pop them, who says they have to be in reachable range? they could be in unreachable places like just-visible in a window of a building, so you'd have to get a good vantage point and snipe it =p. ok, maybe a little farfetched but you get the idea, there isnt that neccessity of having to be able to physically reach it.

No, that's a great idea. Or right at the top of a building. Or right out at sea. The window idea is great. Like you have to get on a building opposite the window and snipe it.

im thinking that there might be more things to find other than the red balloons also. Besides it not being 100 it will make people look for them in different altitudes in the game. Like ther very top of a building or floating in the sky. I think they might put in 200 domestobots or t.v's. Domo ari gotto mr. roboto.

it is an interesting choice of packages, are we sure these are not ON TOP of Secret packages, SA had Graffing, Horse Shoes and Photo Ops, Vice had a coke vases, GTA3 had white packages, LCS had the rocker symbol.

 

it just seems strange to go from a pickup (horseshoes, Vases, Rocker symbol and packages) to an actual task, like having 2 aim for a Balloon
