Hi all,

At first, I couldn't start a poll for some reason, so I do it like this then.

Now, today I was looking for a car, and my eye catched a advertisement of a Dutch Classic Car dealer (Joop Stolze Classic Cars)which had very exclusive cars in his stock, I started off with searching for Abarth, since that option was on the top of the list (hmmm, A is the most first letter on the alphabeth turn.gif ) and I saw a very, very nice styled Abarth, called;Abarth 750 ZB Zagato, and I pretty much felt in love with this vehicle.

I mean the styling, the look of " I am rock solid" gave me a good feeling, and although the price was not listed in the overview, I'm it must cost... well... much.

But that car was not the only one, since and a little time before I got my drivers licence, I was very much intrested in classic cars.

Why?

Because if a car is 25 (so from 1981 or older) years old or older, you don't have to pay tax in The Netherlands.

So I thought, tax free and a LPG (which is a kind of alternative fuel, where the gas price is have of the normal fuel)tank, you can drive much for not so much money (and since I'm a student.... well fill in the rest tounge2.gif ).

Now, I was wondering; What year of car styling did you like the best?

It doesn't have to be the ' 50's or so, but styling from 2006 can also be mentioned.

Please give a explanation why you choose that year(s), by "reviewing" a car.

Choose from:

[X] 1900 - 1910

[X] 1910 - 1920

[X] 1920 - 1930

[X] 1930 - 1940

[X] 1940 - 1950

[X] 1950 - 1960

[X] 1960 - 1970

[X] 1970 - 1980

[X] 1980 - 1990

[X] 1990 - 2000

[X] 2000 - now (or 2010)

Happy posting! lol.gif

What do I choose....

Well that is a difficult one...

I think I really like the 60's Ford Mustang.

So my first bet is 1960-1970 Ford Mustang.

Yeah, I might buy one.

A convertable with a good roof (but maybe, finacial spoken, it would be better to buy a hardtop, since they are easier to insure since the chance of vandalism (which insurance companies must take account for) (and by that I mean ripping the roof away if a convertable).

Love to have the wind in my hairs while driving one handed (the most relaxing way of driving) in a after summer sun, not all to hot not all to cold, wonderfull.

I mean I have driven a M-B 450 SE V8 automatic, and since I drove it, I feld in love with V8 engines.

At any given moment a styling masterpiece can appear. I'd have to say the mid 60s to early 70s were the best, for american cars. The early 1900s had great design all around the world. The mid to late 70s all through the 80s were horrible in the USA, although Europe and Italy kept producing great designs. These days there are some decent american designs, although the funky headlights they've been making usually ruin the look.

My all time favorite would have to be the 1971 Plymouth 'Cuda. With gills, lol

I'm a muscle car guy, and 1970 was absolutely the best year ever, by far. The ned was in sight with all the polution laws, and the companies knew it, so they all went out with a bang. in 1971, almost every manufacturer was making bigger, heavier, uglier, slower cars. just a few examples of my favorites from '70

I couldn't possibly choose one year let alone a decade, I find that there are nice styles in all time periods and also some god damm terrible ones.

Depends on what car you want.

There are icons from each decade.

If you mean overall styling, then for me it has to be 1995-2010.

I just love mid 90's - 2005 American designs for some reason.

The best looking cars came out of the sixties and seventies. Flowing body panels and voluptious shapes. Cars such as the Jag E-Type, Ferrari's, Corvette's, Thunderbirds, Cobra's, Aston Martin's. In that day and age, a car was something beautiful. As time progressed and oil prices sky rocketed - Japanese sensibility conquered the minds of automobile owners. Everything got boxy, angular, ugly. Up until the late nineties and into the thousands, automobile makers have been scared to truly push the boundaries of car design, always searching for the quick buck.

Now, we are finally seeing advancements in car design. BMW's polarizing new designs challenge the imagination, Pininfarina continues to develop some of the most beautiful shapes seen on four wheels (and some flops, i.e. Enzo and P4/5). At the same time a lot of horrible trends are emerging. The entire line up of Dodge cars have been beaten with the ugly stick and blessed with the oversized grill of the Dodge Ram.

So, each era has its ups and downs. But I don't think that car design has ever been as personal and artful since the 70's.

I have similar tastes to Black-hawk by the sound of things, I always loved American designs of the early '00's, but for me it was for different reasons I imagine, I loved the difference between the 'normal' designs of America and Europe's equivalents.

However, in the end I'm going for 1960-1970, the mid-60s Mustang was a beautiful machine (pic), as were the Ferrari Dino 246 (pic), the Lamborghini Miura (pic).

certain cars have there best years. but 60-70 are definately the best. not only did car manufacturers style the exterior but they even styled the engine.

1963 split window corvette stingray has never been beaten by any future models.

1969. dodge charger 500 and charger daytona. 68, 69, and 70 had cool lookin headlight covers though in 70 they got a little uglier wrap full length grille, and in 71 the super bee charger came out and was so big and ugly it didnt come close to the 68 and 69s. 69 the special charger 500 and charger daytonas with no buttresses with better aerodynamics. daytonas had outragous nose clip with chin spoiler and huge rear wing. plus 69 was the last year of the mechanical lifter (solid tappet) hemi.

1970. doge challenger T/A and plymouth AAR barricudda. probably the coolest looking cars ever made. black fiberglass shaker colw induction hoods. fiberglass ductail rear spoiler. fiberglass chin spoiler. fiberglass rear windshield louvers. side stripes. racing hood pins. dual low restriction chrome-tipped megaphone side pipes. besides styling the mechanical package was awesome. 340 six pack had triple 2 barrel carbs and mechanical lifters. hurst-shifted 4 speed manual, front disc bakes and bigger rear tires than fronts.

my uncle had one and it was the loudest thing i had ever heard. at full blast it was louder than a dirt track racer with open headers.

1970 plymouth super bird. bascillay a charger daytona but better lookin and even more aerodynamic nose clip and wing. fake rear brake ducts look cool but were just for show.

1970 chevy chevelle ss 454 ls6 and el camino 454 ss ls6. 70 was the the best year of the chevelle. only styling difference from ls6 from regular ss is more muscular rear suspension so the car sits different. but mechanically the mechanical lifter 454 was was amazing.ss racing stripes never get old either. plus a cowl induction hood with racing pins is always cool

my mom had a 70 ss 396 (though by then it was actually a 402).

1969 pontiac gto judge. coolest looking gm car ever. hood had ram air scoops racing hood pins, and hood-mounted tach. headlight covers. enduro bumper gave cool bumperless appearence. cool rear spoiler was supposedly functional at high speeds. plus the ram air 4 was one of gms most powerful hydraulic lifter v8s ever made.

mustangs had lots of good years. 65 had a simple but muscular looking gt350R. 66 had the gt350h. 67 had the gt500 SS. 68 had the gt500 kr. in 69 the mustang got plain ugly but the boss 302 was extremely awesome looking. cool black hood, rear windshield louvers, rear spoiler, and chin spoiler. also had the mechanical lifter 302

1966 oldsmobile toronado had innovative design, shape and styling.

1968 mercury cougar GT-E 427 had cool headlights, grille , and hood scoop.

and finally 1969 chevy camaro z/28 with rs appearence package. had awesome ductail spoiler, chin spoiler, cowl induction hood, racing stripes, and headlight covers. plus an even cooler mechanical lifter 302 with optional dual four barrel carbs. and optional disc brakes look cool through the rally wheels. nothing was cooler.

I have to say I like 60-70's best. IMO, most modern cars look boxy and ugly, and besides the 60's-70's, I thought the 90's-00's were good.

70 was the the best year of the chevelle.

for power...yeah, of course teh ls6 was untouchable. but for styling, i love the '67, with the color in the pic. i have no idea what the actual name for that color is, but it has to be the most gorgeous color ever. vettes in that color are beautiful. If i were looking for a car to do some racing with, I'd take the '70 with a 454. for a street car... I'd love a '67 SS 396

actually maybe the 69 copo (or yenko) with the 427 might be the best. my friend has a 69 chevelle (not an ss or copo) just a regular one with the 300 hp 350 (first year). after lookin at it close today, i got to say it might be the best lookin.

I must say that for me it was a toss up between the 1920s-30s and 1940s-50s and '40s-'50s won by a small margin.

I mean I like '60s-'70s cars and the Road Runner Superbird (piccy) is just sex but I just like '40s-'50s more and '20s-'30s were just soooo good as well

1960-1970. I really like the shape of the cars from that time, not only Americans.

For example, 1965 Jaguar E-Type.

heh well the copo 427 with 3 2-barrels was rated at 435hp (...bullsh*t) and the LS6 was 450 (again, bullsh*t). you're probably right, the all aluminum 427 would own the 454. but i'd rather not think about that car, because i know i'll never own one wink.gif
