Official VCS site update!

No, Tommy is not going to be in the game, he is in prison up in Liberty City, and he doesn't get out of prison until 1986. VCS takes place in 1984. 2 years earlier. The only way we can possibly hear about him is by somebody mentioning the incident that happened in Harwood in LC, or Vic meeting somebody who was in prison with Tommy. That's it.

And if Tommy had a brother, I think he would have mentioned him in some way in VC.

I find it interesting that I am the first person (with the exception of one guy) to post in here that joined GTAForums pre-2005.

 

Perhaps it shows the true division of audience for this game? I am in no way trying to say the game sucks or anything, but there seems to be a clear divide of people that are and aren't looking forward to this game.

 

Oh, and to those of you that "creamed your pants" or "need to change your pants after looking at the screens" or the "Oh. My. God." people...you make me giggle.

 

Here's how I believe the GTA games will be remembered on a greatness scale:

I find it interesting that Jordan acts like he is the only true GTA gamer, just cause he been on the internet longer, and played the games most of his life, when most people got into em, in 01 with GTA3.

What the hell are you rambling about? Is this another outburst of anti-PSP garbage?

 

This game is obviously aimed at the PSP owners, what the hell is the matter with that? Oh, and if we haven't joined before '05, somehow we're not actual GTA fans? Excuse me if the people who are actually gonna play this game this year are excited, sorry to offend you. VC Stories is bringing a lot of new gameplay mechanics to the table and is advancing the series, unlike LCS. We have a reason to be excited over this game.

 

And so what if the majority of people on this(and probably the GTA IV) board are newer members? The same thing probably happened back in '04, pre SA release. I bet a number of these members joined just to discuss that title. It's no different than the rise of new members joining to discuss VC Stories, so what's the big deal? What, is the game not good enough for the members who joined between '01 and '04? Pfft.

He was only pointing out that newer members are the ones that seem to be most excited about the game. And he, just like me, have not played the GTA's all of our lives. You have because youre younger. I cant speak for Jordan, but I started my love for GTA ever since I saw a preview of it in Gamefan magazine ten years ago. I love GTA with all my heart. We havent had GTA the majority of our lives unlike most. GTA 3 was not the first for us to play in the series. All though I do disagree with Jordon about the order of GTA's in their greatness it doesnt change the fact that he is an excellent member.

 

I think the reason the younger generation of GTA fans are jumping up and down is because they are the ones that own PSP's. Us older guys, although I only joined a month ago, I am 21 which makes me older then most of the people in here, we dont own PSPs. We have alot of other sh*t to spend our money on and lots of sh*t we have to save money for. PS3 is coming right around the corner which wont be cheap and neither will a HDTV which lots of us are waiting to afford.

 

Most gamers, ESPECIALLY THE OLDER CROWD, like myself, enjoy playing GTA on the big screen. On the couch smoking a joint and drinking beer playing with their buddies or themselves. The PSP crowd mostly get the system for Christmas or easily save their allowances or work cash because they have less bills and sh*t to save for. We have seen systems released before only to have a new far improved version come out a year and a half later. Also lots arent impressed with the 32 MB mem stick it comes with. Meaning your going to have to drop another 100 bucks on a big ol mem stick. Many hate the small screen. We are more weary of buying into this kind of sh*t. So I think the people that dont own PSP's stay away from this topic because they dont want to get all excited about a game they may never get to play.

 

Im lucky. Im barrowing my buddies PSP. Hes broke so Im going to buy the game and let him keep it when Im done. For those that dont own PSPs, but are dying to play VCS on day one, try this method.

 

Also I think that the order of GTA games should be:

 

1. Vice City

 

2. The original GTA

 

3. San Andreas

I could care less how long you been playin GTA, doesnt matter to me, I know planetGTA, could give ah f*ck less about lil stunt videos and news updates, when I could just go straight to the info on the offical gta sites.

I do infact own ah PSP with one game, LCS, I bought ah PSP just to play LCS, dont care what people say, I have ah nice job that pays every week, so 250 spent on ah PSP aint nothing to me, when I could make it again in another week.

I was a bit dissapointed with the trailer, tbh. Underwhelmed. There hasn't been a good GTA trailer in almost two years now, but the game still looks great. I think it's awesome that they're not gonna get cheap on us(like they did with LCS), and they're actually having the proper people doing the VO work. Loving that sunset too, it's amazing. Can't wait till October 31st. Oh, and to whoever said something about Scarface, I'm getting that one too, already pre-ordered it.

I was not being anti-psp. Sony is my favorite electronics manufacturer because I think they make the best and most reliable products. Everything I own is sony and everything I ever will own is Sony. I never said the PSP was for kids. I was simply making the point that the percentage of kids that own PSPs over adults is much higher then the PS2. It was years after the PS2 was released before I ever saw a poll of gamers showing the breakdown of age groups. I mean how can you tell how many people, of what age groups, own PSP's with out setting up an expensive marketing poll. You dont give your date of birth when buying a PSP at Bestbuy.

 

This is something that I, along with many others on this forum, have noticed. When Im at school, at Oakland University, and people are waiting in between classes I have noticed that of the people that are playing PSPs most of them are younger then me. Also of all my work friends the vast majority of them that own PSPs are younger then me. The majority of the people I work with are older then me so thats saying something. My friend whos PSP Iam barrowing is younger then me.

 

Perhaps if you got enjoyment out of going to school and bettering your life or earning money by working for a living, as opposed to harassing forum members, you would notice a trend like this as well.

 

The bottom line is youre acting like a jerk. You got all bent out of shape about something you misinterprated from Jordans post. Then you insulted him. Thats where you crossed the line. If you couldnt comprehend what he was saying then fine. You dont have to insult him.

Before this topic incinerates entirely, could someone tell me why the new MeTV bits aren't showing up for me? The trailer's there and so are the screens, but the shapes for the MeTV bits are all the same as they were before. Have they been taken down or something?
