GFX Resource Index

Welcome to the GFX Area Resource Index. I created this Index because i thought it would be a better way to go about creating resource topics for the members, this way is better because it's one large topic rather than a large number of smaller topics. This makes it easier to manage and update the content.

Below you will find some useful links to various GFX related resources, such as downloads, tutorials, image hosting websites, etc. As well as important information specific to GTAForums, like rules, members tutorials, etc.

If you have any question about anything posted, either post here or PM any GFX regulars or myself. I'm sure theres plenty or people who would be more than happy to help.

Description JPEG is one of the most popular and most used image file formats in the world. It's used mostly for Web Images as well as normal images, like desktop wallpapers and graphics. It can be used for lossy compression and lossless compression. Making it a great image file format for just about anything. Though it can only be maded most of when using an image editor such as Fireworks, Photoshop or Pain Shop Pro. As many others don't support the comprssion settings, thus meaning you will not get a nice image, more of a blury one. .jpg2 and .jp2 are the new versions of the image format, with a lot better compression options. • Very small file size ratios no matter what compression setting.
Cons
  • Compression Setting not supported by many image editors.

It was origanaly made for use with ZSofts PC Paintbrush graphics program that was found around the MSDOS erra. The image format was extreamly popular back around the time of DOS and some early Windows systems, but is nowadays rarly found. Most programs like Photoshop still support it, but it's not supported by many other, nor any online image hosters. The main reason it is now obsoloat is because it has been replaced by so many other better image formats that support not only better quality, but better compression to.

You definately need more karma or something! Awesome work, although, there are a few errors like PNG information, pros and cons pasted in GIF and BMP sections. wink.gif

Yeah, thanks for letting me know about that error, I'll re-write the .GIF information section. I don't know what happened there tounge.gif.

Thanks for all the kind comments everyone, it's much appreciated smile.gif.

Also thanks for the good rating smile.gif.

Here's a few links you might like to add:

http://www.vectorportal.com/ - links to anything vector related.

http://www.illustratorworld.com/ - Illustrator site

http://www.brandsoftheworld.com/ - a resource site for most of your logo needs. All files are in vector, so no more resolution problems.

And I'm sure there are a lot more.

Personally I'd lose the bit on formats though, as there's some stuff in there that's kinda iffy and not exactly accurate. Either way, nice effort. smile.gif

Thanks Sweets, I'll add your fonts to the list smile.gif.

And yes, some of the format stuff needs to be re-written. I don't know what i was thinking when I wrote some of it tounge.gif.

jarjar, you should add Corel Draw (X3 is the latest), since Freehand's future is in doubt at best. It's a print-industry standard software package, and does everything Illustrator does for about half the price. Even export AI formats if you need them (along with about a billion more; my company uses it quite frequently). Great vector package, and it comes with Photo Paint - Paint Shop Pro on steriods.

Just a suggestion. smile.gif

No that's fine, I want people to suggest things, that's the idea of the Resource Index. Thanks for you suggest, I'll do some research and get it added ASAP, thanks icon14.gif.
