vicecitymafia
Jordan - I agree with you that the PSP isn't the greatest system for GTA. And you're right that the thrill of playing in the same city, even with a different storyline, isn't the same as playing in a new city. I've been playing the GTA games since the beginning, and every one is different in a way that makes it worth the money and time to play. I bought a PSP because of LCS, and I don't regret it for a minute. I may be a bit prejudiced with VCS because VC was my favourite city in a GTA game, but I think a lot of GTA players agree with this: It's still Grand Theft Auto. zeppelincheetah
Ehhh... Calm down guys. I know I'm supposed to be one of those fully-supportive people just because I run a fan site, but am I the only one that's like "ehhh, ok fine" after watching the trailer and looking at the website? Or maybe I'm just a longtime GTA player like some others who seem to have not posted in here yet that are waiting for GTA IV? "I creamed in my pants" is what one guy said earlier in this post. Huh??? This is nowhere near as exciting as the first information we got on San Andreas...or the first time we played GTA III (though I think some of you didn't even join the series until later, sadly). VCS looks good and all, but are people really going to fork over 250 dollars for a game and a PSP core system just to play a really good high quality mod of Grand Theft Auto: Vice City? I know that sounds harsh but it's true. They took the city...modded it...created a new story and some new characters, redid a lot of texturing and modeling, got new music and voice stuff, and put it all together....which is great, don't get me wrong, but it's not "creamed in my pants" good...which I think that reaction should be reserved for the literal meaning... I love GTA and all, but these "Stories" games seem like really good filler inbetween now and GTA IV. I don't mean that in a bad way. It is very, very good filler, and I welcome "new" GTA games especially when big GTA games won't be out for a long time, but charging full $50 price for a PSP game (a system that I personally don't care for) that I have to play on a screen that size with a little joystick thing that's probably the worst-designed thing ever... Someone had to say it. Edit: I will buy the PS2 version later on, though, if it is for $19.99 like LCS was. exactly what i was thinking. see my above post. it's like a new movie that re-uses a previous movie's sets
jc steel
instead of stacked pizza there is going to be King Kuts, sounds like a donut shop. You can definately tell that Diaz sounds different. But if its a different voice actor, he is acctually doing a pretty good job with him. does anyone think that vic looks like 2pac

GTA3Freak-2001
Jordan! No I understand what you are saying but I am excited. But I guess I am just biased to Vice City as I thought it was the bees knees being the 80's freak child that I am. I am excited but not as excited as when Vice City or San Andreas was launched so I do see where you are coming from. Do I also detect a little jealousy though in you because you don't have a PSP youself perhaps?

You said it yourself, some of these people may be new to the series, so i'm sure their excitement is warranted. We really don't have to tell them to calm down. That I will agree with. Maybe this is something that is more appealing to newer fans of the franchise. I'm not trying to bash GTA...and I know you didn't say I was... Just making the statement. @ GTA3Freak-2001: I had a PSP until a few months ago. I played LCS for PSP on it for about 10 minutes. Portable systems haven't been appealing since the first Game Boy in my opinion.
Vanilla Shake
I too see where you are coming from Jordan, but, I am extremely excited about this game, and I've been playing GTA for a long time now........and to be honest, I'm more excited about this one than when VC was announced and released, regardless of the fact that it's on the PSP..... Yeah I have to come clean here I initially played LCS to death but I haven't actually completed even the storyline because as you said to me portable gaming isn't as appealing next to full size console gaming. I want to get VCS on PSP but I may just wait for PS2 to get it cheaper. After buying a 360 I am a little short on cash so it may be wise to wait even though its tempting beyond belief to jump in as soon as possible. zeppelincheetah
Well i have a psp (got it for christmas last year) and i've been a gta fan for longer than most of you (since early 1999.) I was excited with LCS because it was like "whoa! a fully portable gta III!" Now that it's established that 3d games can be done on portables it's not exciting anymore to see a new game with the same city. I just realized this with this update, when I finally first saw the game in motion. My anticipation for the game went from a 9 on a scale from one to 10 down to a 6. I'll get it, as i'm the biggest GTA fan in the world and I got a PSP just for GTA, but as of right now i'm not that excited.

What i wouldn't give to experience these things for the fisrt time again, but that's impossible now. In a way, i envy these people. I'm expecting GTA4 to give me that feeling back all over again, though. But that's a year away and i'm yet to get a next gen console.

Niall
Did anyone notice in the trailer at 00:25 when Vic asks Umberto “Are you a comedian friend?” Umbertos voice sounds like Burt Reynolds as Avery Carrington? I think it is and they changed the video to keep Avery unconfirmed (or Burt at least). Later, 00:47, Umbertos voice sounds right. Thoughts? creative madman
sorry if this has been mentioned, but im not gonna shift through 6 pages of "WOOT, OMG THIS IS ORGASMIC". but theres a bit in the trailer where someone is leaning out the window......much similar to that of GTA: SA.... does someone wanna take down the banner? cuz im pretty sure that if its not the WHOLE San Andreas engine that has been modified, its atleast had sections of code borrowed from it.. thoughts? Edit: there is an english voice/DJ on wave 103 and it said Vice city to london, so is this confirming london is next or is it sending us off in the wrog direction and having the location somewhere esle actually there was a similar thing on San Andreas, about K-Jah West, "all the way from JA to SA". so unless they're gonna make a spin off series with every state/city they ever mention, then im assuming, its just a storyline feature Edited September 6, 2006 by creative madman
Born Acorn
*Points to big, yellow, moving, epileptic fit enducing banner* It's probably Rockstar Leed's own new code. It's a full commercial game, not a third party mod.
Rob.
I LOVE VICE CITY AGAIN: From Vice City to London lyrics: make it, we can make it together, together we can make it forever Please, does anyone know the name of that song? Greatly appreciated if anyone knew Looks miles better than LCS, it seems more effort has been put into it's audio production. Edited September 6, 2006 by Rob. creative madman
It's a full commercial game, not a third party mod. yeah, and big companies DO also include RAD (Rapid Application Development) techniques, such as copying modules from one programme to another. why would Rockstar Leeds re-write code that they already have?...as far as my logic determines they get access to all of Rockstar Norths GTA Code.... cuz they used the whole Vice City Engine (evident from redundant models, etc)

Okuplok
The first trailer looks really good and it shows how improved the graphics really are compared to Grand Theft Auto Liberty City Stories with the new lighting effect and greater draw distance. I am very pleased to see the old 80's music back and the comedy commercials it just brings more life into the game. A few old characters have been shown a few times along with clips from certain missions which looks really good. The feature i'm most interested in is multiplayer i just hope it has infrastructure.
