Was it ever revealed what game was this supposed to be? It's definitely not the vision of Bully 2 Rockstar had in late 2000s, that's for sure. But it sounds like a game that could be a spiritual successor.

I don't think a continuation of Jimmy Hopkins' story is happening, but school setting, small and dense open world is something that I think has a lot of potential and should definitely be explored by Rockstar. If Bully 2 is real then I hope it's something different and not connected to the first game much.

That's what I'd prefer too, perhaps under a different name. I'd be okay with a school setting game, perhaps more narrative focused like Life is Strange. I think R* could do great with games like that too tbh.

In terms of the game. I was never interested in a Bully 2, even if some of the mechanics were reused for RDR2 - in fact this is a good sign Rockstar respects the work devs did even for cancelled projects and they use it in other projects. I don't think a Bully 2 would ever work but that is my opinion. I'd prefer a more lightweight narrative game instead of a Bully 2. Some of the features also sound like things from design documents, not things integrated in-engine.

 

Oh, and it's funny how there's a playable vertical slice mentioned in that article. Which is probably where Henderson got it from, a journalists writing Discord of sorts, and spun it into a Bully 2 leak.  Moron.

Why I cant have Bully on my RS Social Club game page, with other games so i can see my progress & awards?

Is it going to show up after I get some in-game award or not at all?

 

My copy of Bully: Scholarship Edition is on Steam, and it is visible in my RS Launcher but I could not make it active on SC (I did try out few things).

I have on my SC 'games' page RDR2/RDO (RS/Steam combo), GTAV (Steam), LS Noire (Steam), GTAIV (Steam) and Max Pyne3 (Steam) - all visible and with workable stats & awards  (is there a limit on Social Club 'visible' games?)

Social club integration is only available for Bully: Anniversay edition (Android/iOS).

I remember I had GTAIV, RDR & MCLA on my older profile, but they don't appear on my newer profile even though I just played them recently and are linked

I see it from miles that this stupid mobile port has been done by the people at GSG. It is a disaster, looks like garbage and does in no way capture the atmosphere or anything else of the original. A product even not worthy the dump.

Huh-uh, the same exact thing Henderson said about Bully 2 near the Game Awards in December, and 1. it wasn't there, 2. it was leaked out of a journalists' circle and distorted into a Bully 2 reveal when it was just a GameInformer article with ex-devs. Tom Henderson wishes he knew anything specific about R* lmao.

 

Bully 2 is something I don't think is happening ever again, IMO.

He has yet to get anything from Rockstar correct. He's a great leaker just not when it comes to Rockstar.

Even then he's not a "great" leaker. Dude has no ethics and an ego the size of the galaxy when he does know info - the tweet has since been deleted since there was mass-backlash even from the games media.

I’m doing a fresh new play of IV and this game reminds me so much of Bully.

It’s obvious they’re made by the same people and have the same dna.

This era or Rockstar truly was the best, The Warriors, Bully and GTA IV.

You would have to get those same people in the team together to make a proper Bully game otherwise it would turn out like sh*t similar to GTA V.

 

Now I want to replay Bully

You people really don’t realize that what made Bully so great was the dna and people that made it possible.

Rodkstar games had a certain aesthetic at that time and that is what made their games so great.

We just have to accept that they’re dead and gaming as a whole has died out.

thank god we can still go back and play the old great classics

I'm genuinely curious, not trying to bait or troll or anything, but how is IV any way related to Bully? I can't think of a single thing they have in common other than the open world gameplay and the autumn aesthetic (and that was only in the first chapter in Bully)

 

Speaking of which, it wouldve been very neat if we could change the season after we beat the game. I know it wouldn't make much sense but I loved the winter chapter just for its aesthetics and it's a shame we can only enjoy it for like 1/5th of the game

no no, R* is still there at the top and gaming as a whole has never been better.

your opinion is your opinion, I get that, but it's far from the truth for me, for others too I think.

bully 2 could be another masterpiece out of the R* stable, only time will tell.

Bully is a timeless classic ... it is one of those rare games I can replay at least once a year and still it never gets old.

A masterpiece which deserved the rumored and laid out sequel that was being worked on back in 2009 ... I would have loved to play this so so much and it would have probably topped Bully for me if it was ever to be released.

Such a shame the higher-ups at Rockstar stopped it (for whatever reasons) and 'forced' them to work on Max Payne 3 instead.

I feel like if the community was given the option whether they want Bully 2 or Max Payne 3 it would have been a clear win for Bully 2.

Oh well, maybe one day it's coming, not giving up hope yet ...

 

 

Just read the Gamineformer article about Bully 2 again ... below some quotes which make me cry of what could have been.

 

“There [were] some late nights for sure, staying until midnight, 1, 2 in the morning,” says another developer on the project. “We were hustling to prove ourselves because I think just about anybody working on Bully 2 just absolutely loved it. It was certainly a labor of love by just about anybody that was working on it. I think most of the people that worked on it look back on it fondly and kind of wistfully, wishing that it would’ve worked out.”

“It was going to be really cool,” one former developer says. “What we had was pretty amazing, especially given the very short amount of time that we were working on it. [...] It certainly would’ve been very unique, very interesting, certainly a lot of fun. A lot of cool and interesting mechanics that we were working on that still aren’t in other games.”

“It’s still a concept, in my opinion, worth exploring," another says, "and I think that it would be a missed opportunity for them to let it go forever."

 

Bully 2 would have been my dream game!

Playing Bully for the first time.

 

Having fun, completed Chemistry class and English class. English was fun, I got whatever words I could pretty quick then couldn't think of anymore and just stupidly stared at the timer lol.

 

Did the first few missions, had Gary introduce me around and identify the cliques.

 

Kicked a few butts too in the boys dorm. Tried to get in the girls dorm but the moment I entered some girl ran screaming towards me and I decided I wanted none of that.

 

How do conversations in this game work, like I lock in towards the person I want to talk and greet them, they respond nicely but then theres an awkward silence before they say something and leave and I don't know if I could have pressed something to continue the conversation. Pressing the same key to talk doesnt work.

It's not a bad game but the controls on PC are why I haven't even finished chapter 2. I don't remember it being bad on console tho
