Tbh if Bully 2 actually does happen, I wouldn't want Jimmy to return. I love him as much as the next guy no homo but I'd much rather have R* take the GTA route by having a new protagonist and new setting.

 

Hell, it's why a sequel is long overdue - they had no idea where to take Jimmy's story. So to that I say:

Guys, let's be honest, why would Rockstar make a new ~10 hours game when they can make truckload of money with something, that is 5 times shorter and doesn't cost them even 5% of what new game would cost development wise.

As a word of warning, remember these are reports from way over a decade ago, and they include problem people who have since been fired from Rockstar. Also that some of these problems are still spread all over the AAA industry (and should have awareness raised for and taken very seriously), and while Rockstar has changed a lot (in comparison to back then) in the last few years, some companies still haven't.

 

In terms of the game. I was never interested in a Bully 2, even if some of the mechanics were reused for RDR2 - in fact this is a good sign Rockstar respects the work devs did even for cancelled projects and they use it in other projects. I don't think a Bully 2 would ever work but that is my opinion. I'd prefer a more lightweight narrative game instead of a Bully 2. Some of the features also sound like things from design documents, not things integrated in-engine.

 

Oh, and it's funny how there's a playable vertical slice mentioned in that article. Which is probably where Henderson got it from, a journalists writing Discord of sorts, and spun it into a Bully 2 leak.  Moron.

If you mean some linear narrative game like Uncharted (or even wide-linear like TLoU2) I'm more or less convinced Rockstar wouldn't even consider it. I think that Max Payne 3's tepid sales marked the end of those kind of games for Rockstar. Whatever game they will produce in future will be open world, in one way or another. In fact something with the scale of Bully (~30hr. games) would make sense if they want to produce more games in between the flagship RDR and GTA entries that requires much less manpower and budget.

It probably won't happen, but it's not because of controversy.

The last controversial topic about games was the cockfight in FC6, some people commented and nothing happened, this doesn't work anymore, the amount of "gamers" is now much higher than the amount of people who want to censor games.
