How often is this going to keep being brought up  A reveal at TGA sounds so unlikely for Rockstar, and people playing the game already? That is a huge and very specific claim, yet he essentially has no track record with Rockstar no matter how much you follow him for other stuff. 

 

I'm not personally invested in Bully (I've never played it!) but I know it has a big fanbase, so I hope for their sakes there is some truth to what he claims as I'd love to see something different. The thing that is most frustrating with this community is that there is so much fake bullsh*t around about GTA 6 etc, so I have no idea how people suddenly believe it and prepare for it immediately with no research, and now it's spread all over the media like it's confirmed, even though it's coming from someone who has admitted to trolling the community in the past because of how ..."passionate" we are. I have been reading tweets from his followers saying it'll be Rockstar fans' fault if they believe him and it doesn't come true, for a tweet that he is very specifically stating as a leak. He clearly has connections, but his attitude kinda sucks.

 

The best thing we can do is watch and wait, be the better side and see if anything comes of it, as at the end of the day it doesn't matter to Tom Henderson if it's legit or not. He already has his credibility with other games like BF and COD, is a writer for VGC, etc etc. It's water over a ducks back if things have been lost in translation for someone who already has achieved notoriety as a gaming source.

Regardless of who he is this is the crux of it. No one in the past has really been correct about R* appearances at conferences and supposed private showings, because R* simply doesn't really do those lol. I doubt that's changing now with their ever-increasing influence and preference to market things all by themselves.

There is a possibility that Rockstar Games could delay GTA V to Fiscal 2023. It would make sense to fill this gap with Bully.

I don't believe it, but if it's true, I think the ideal scenario would be that Dan Houser left early last year after finishing his main writing work on the sequel. Otherwise, it'd be an even bigger red flag for him to leave the company despite finally getting the chance to make a new Bully.

maybe journos expected a trailer at TGA because they knew it exist? so, it was not "supposed" to be shown at tga, they simply assumed it would.

What confuses me is why did Henderson immediately assume Bully 2 if what he actually heard was "unannounced Bully Project" Logical conclusion would be a remaster not a new game.

Would it make sense for Rockstar to even show footage and promotional material to multiple journalist if it's just a remaster? It seems that not even GTA trilogy remaster was shown to the media at all, and that's their flagship title.

I agree that it doesn't necessarily have to be Bully 2, but if it's real I doubt it's a remaster. Could be a remake which would actually make sense if Rockstar intends to revive the IP and develop the sequel (that might be a direct continuation) in the future. But I would still guess it's Bully 2.

I am not sure what to think myself. Months ago everyone was convinced Dundee is working on trilogy, but that turned out to be false info. So I am not sure who even has real info anymore.

Though everyone should take Bully 2 rumours with a grain of salt, I think the community had enough of them over the years lol. If it turns out to be real this time, then amazing, good for us. But it's certainly not guaranteed to happen unlike GTA 6 which will come out eventually.

What if it's a remaster? Like, Ruffian Games didn't done anything on GTA Trilogy DE like we ( at least I ) thought and it was mainly GSG project, maybe this is the Ruffian games project they were hiring for since 2018-19?

I'm with you on that. Wasn't there a similar situation where Rockstar showed RDR2 privately in a E3 or somewhere (back in 2016) or was it another unfounded rumor, I don't really remember.

And I don't really see Rockstar remaking Bully of all the titles in their catalogue. Hell, they didn't even bother to properly remaster their 3 classic GTAs in-house even on the 20th anniversary of the game that made them who they are. If they're going spend some pretty penny on a game it'll be a brand new title. Just marketing it as 'From the makers of Grand Theft Auto V and Red Dead Redemption 2' will do wonders anyway. And Rockstar is a completely different beast than they were back in 2006, when Bully first came out, and I don't think they need to remake something to revive an IP, their brand is insanely strong. Bully already has a cult following anyway. (And I strongly believe Max Payne 3 underperformed due to V being announced before it's release)

Yes. That rumour was what made people think we were about to get an announcement for RDR2 in early 2016 much like now with "Bully 2". Although it did happen, it was unrelated to that rumour and only happened in October. It was all over social media, and supposedly it was "reliable sources" too much like now and... nothing happened.

 

And nothing will happen now either IMO.

Game devs do show stuff off before announcement at trade shows and the like, behind closed doors at E3 etc, and I do believe Rockstar have done so as well, but it's become an easy fake leak these days.

 

Looking at Henderson's tweets there's the classic "info is blurry, have to be vague" etc. I don't expect concrete info for a leak of course, but he doesn't inspire confidence when he goes from "Bully 2 was expected at TGA's to" "the info is blurry, have to be vague" in one tweet lol.

 

When ever it comes to Rockstar leaks from Schreier and Henderson I'm iffy on it, their track record isn't yet proven as both only recently started to touch on R* stuff and historically a lot of leaks come from left field (the RDR2 map and reddit leak) or within the community (GTAO updates, DE trilogy, etc) and these supposed leakers have a tendency on rewording leaks from the community and passing it off as their own, and I've yet to see anything that makes me believe Henderson in particular hasn't done this. Plus, it looked sus when they both shat on the community for questioning their info. I've no doubt some idiots probably crossed a line, but both a guilty of generalising the entire community because they didn't get on their hands and knees and beg for more when they graced us with leaks.
