Bully

Bully's natural progression into college could actually be very interesting, but Rockstar would have to pull it off just right.

This game is great on Android! Unfortunately I couldn't buy it because Rockstar doesn't allow it on my device (HTC M9) and/or country (Play Store doesn't let me buy it), Very well done though. Will really make those train commutes way more fun.

just completed the main storyline on android, game works tiptop. few glitches though, but there's always a few mishaps when war drum ports rockstar's games.

the good:

i have a samsung galaxy s6 and i play on medium settings, and the game still runs smooth as silk. it still amazes me a little device in my pocket is more powerful than a ps2.

autosaving! the autosaving has saved my butt so many times. i hated that if i forgot to save on the old ps2 version that everything i did would be lost. on missions, it's not like war drums' gta where it automatically prompts you for a retry when you fail, but you can load your autosave like any other save from the pause menu. also like war drums ports, if you close the game you can pick up immediately from where you left off. if you close the game during missions or classes, it just restarts you back to the mission/class marker. so theoretically, you can attempt a class as many times as you want - as long as you don't skip the little 'report card' part at the end of every class - without fear of failing because you can just close the game and restart the class from the beginning.

another thing i liked about the port was that they didn't dumb anything down. i noticed when i played through gta vc mobile that every building you had to purchase had their price cut in half, and missions like shooting the windows in the mall was very dumbed down.

characters have more lines - i noticed that when you're in a fight with someone and you run away, they shout that they're going to get you. i recall many times damon from the jocks shouted "i'm gaining on ya, only a matter of time now!". i also noticed that people in school talk more, both to themselves and to others.

the bad:

fighting multiple people is a bit of a hassle because you can't really 'swipe' to another person - you have to cancel it manually and try and land a punch on whoever you need to punch.

manual aiming is slightly broken because you can move the reticule with your thumb as you hold down the fire button, and when you're using your other hand to swipe on the screen to actually aim, jimmy can just flick and be stuck looking at the floor. also, even with the sensitivity at 100, aiming is super slow. it can take multiple swipes to look back up from the floor. the mission where you had to throw snowballs at townies for the santa hobo was hell.

the command to pick weapons up, go through doors etc is the same button for jumping. if you got people after you and you want to go through a door or jump into a bin or locker, you better hit that button dead on time otherwise jimmy will moonjump past the door marker or do a little hop in the air. i say that you have to hit the button dead on time because obviously you can't really tap it before you get to the door/bin because you'll be hop skipping along the place and completely miss it. you literally have to stop dead in front of it, then press the button prompt. not very good when you got prefects on you.

music class is bugged - you have to tap on the left and right side of the screen when the circle falls onto the strike line, but in some classes there are notes which are both on the left and right simultaneously. i could only ever hit these like 10% of the time because the screen/game seemed to have trouble recognizing two points being pressed at once.

the go kart has no collision with anybody at all - you can still crash into walls and obviously you don't fall through the floor, but you can't run anybody over or bump into them and jimmy can walk straight through it. people still dive or duck out of the way, so it must be broken.

if anybody has any questions or concerns about this game, perhaps wanting to know things before they purchase it, i'll be more than willing to answer :) i'm sure i've left things out

Does anyone experience really bad microstutter? I remember there being some when I played it on a 360 - but seems to be worse on Xbone.

Also, it seems at least some of the XML files in the game have some sort of protection on them. What ever it is they all seem to start with "Wx".

Like in auralux2 then.

Why is there no shadows option?

clarity means graphics. i believe on low clarity there is no anti-aliasing or shadows, so i'm assuming high clarity means high anti aliasing and shadows.

I've been doing some research and comparison about the released versions of Bully and which one is the best version to play. Sorry if I make any mistakes, but from all of the reviews, gameplay videos and such I have seen, these were the results.

PlayStation 2, PlayStation 3 and PlayStation 4 Re-release

+ Easy to play with a simple PlayStation controller.

+ Probably the least buggiest variant of Bully.

+ The PlayStation 4 Rerelease includes an Achievement System

+ First-print copies of the PlayStation 2 version comes with Bully: Special Edition that includes a dodgeball, comic, and a unique locker-like cabinet. It was only released in North America.

- Can get very laggy and unresponsive at times, which can lead to freezing. The lag issues were fixed on the PlayStation 3 and PlayStation 4 digital rerelease.

- Doesn't include Scholarship Edition bonus content and missions.

- It can be harder to get a 100% if you don't know where the Rubber Bands/Cards are located, since the map/geography class isn't present.

Xbox 360 and Xbox One Re-release

+ Includes an Achievement System

+ Easy controls, much like the PlayStation version

+ One of the two titles to be backwards-compatible with another system. The Other is the Wii/Wii U version.

+ Included bug patches, fixing a few glitches here and there...

- ...but it created even more bigger glitches.

- It has the longest loading time, second being the original PlayStation 2 version.

- This version can be hard to find in second-hand game stores.

Windows/Mac

+ Depending on the computer, it has the best framerate and shortest loading times.

+ Portable on a PC Laptop.

+ Mod-friendly, allowing custom skins/missions/graphics/mods to be added.

- Arrow keys are used as controls, and can take time getting used to.

- Graphics can be ugly to some, ruining the overall gritty and dark atmosphere of the game.

- Sounds are pretty low-quality, like the car horns.

- It currently has issues running on newer computers, like Windows 10 which Rockstar has yet to fix.

Wii

+ It has PlayStation 2-Styled graphics, including the original blue sedan.

+ Some minor things are added and fixed, like Rudy's cash from the Rudy the Red-Nosed Reindeer ending cutscene.

+ One of the easiest games to find in a second-hand game shop.

+ One of the two physical backwards-compatible Bully titles, meaning it can be played on a Wii U. The other is the Xbox One.

- Bad Controls, can take time getting used to.

- As with other Scholarship Edition games, new bugs are present. Luckily, they're not that jarring compared to the Xbox 360 version.

- The graphics can lose their luster and charm if played backwards-compatible on a Wii U.

iOS/Android

+ This game is more portable than the Windows/Mac iteration, meaning you can put it on your smartphone and take it with you on the go.

+ Redrawn menu graphics optimised for wider screens like the Android TV.

+ Can be modded, but it is harder to mod compared to the Windows/Mac version.

+ Connects to the Rockstar Social Club, allowing you to unlock content.

- The environmental graphics look far more saturated and ugly than Scholarship Edition.

- Controls can take getting used to, but not as bad as the Wii Versions.

- Some of the major bugs are STILL not fixed and new ones are present like high-pitched sound effects.

In conclusion, what is the best version to own?

- The Wii version has PS2-styled graphics with Scholarship Edition content, but it has bad controls.

- The PlayStation 2, 3 and 4 version is easier to play with a controller but there is no Scholarship Edition content.

-- However, the PS4 rerelease has an Achievement System.

- The Xbox 360/One version uses a controller to play, includes Scholarship Edition content and an achievement system, but there are quite a few bugs and has PC graphics.

- The Windows/Mac version has Scholarship Edition content, but it can be tough to play with the arrow keys. However, this game is moddable.

- The Android/iOS version is portable, including Scholarship Edition content but has even more bugs present and stiff controls.

I have a question. What's the framerate cap in Bully Anniversary edition ANDROID version (30, 60 fps or unlocked) ?

It's a port of the scholarship edition which is capped at 30 fps on both x360 and PC, so i'm sure it's 30 fps on mobile too.

Holden Caulfield

I have a question. What's the framerate cap in Bully Anniversary edition ANDROID version (30, 60 fps or unlocked) ?

After I beat the game, I used a tweaked version with a frame rate counter, it's 30-31 frames per second.

I know this is not directly on topic, but does anyone know what has happened to the Bully Board? I'm asking because I assume some of the GTAF userbase might be members there as well, and it's been displaying "Connection Problems" for quite a worrying amount of time now. No way of checking for updates from admins either.

GameChristopher

So, I just started playing Bully for the first time, and I love it. I was already in love with it, and then the town opened up and my brain exploded. In all the years it's been since the game came out, I never knew there was anything beyond the school grounds.

Anyway, I liked it so much, I made a music video for it! Check it out:
