palaric8 Posted August 23, 2006 Share Posted August 23, 2006 I think it will be released for PS2 cos they said at first LCS was only gonna be PSP and thats on PS2 now aswell. but when they announced LCS to come out on ps2 too,they announced another esclusive title for the psp VCS we have to wait at least six months to know the truth if is going to be ported... Rock Howard Posted August 25, 2006 Share Posted August 25, 2006 First off, I think it would be wise to change that yellow jumping banner at the top of the page to say "Attention: The 'No PS2 Port' Reports are Misleading" or something along those lines. Just a suggestion. Preface: 1. There's a forum topic with more than six pages that is called "VCS Will be on PSP ONLY" that keeps getting bumped and looks rather official. 2. A podcast-style audio show run by some people that work at 1up.com included a quick interview with some guy that saw a demonstration of VCS a few days prior. He said "the interesting thing about [VCS] is that they are not going to move it to PS2." 3. Some guy named Newbie41 here on the forums took the time to make these words red and larger than normal: "VCS WILL NOT BE PORTED TO THE PS2." This person is referring to a magazine article in USA PSM that says "[Rockstar] informed us that they have no plans to bring VCS to the PS2." The magazine didn't do anything wrong. It was just interpreted wrong by a forum member. The Lesson: I know some of you hate when I refer to "the convention" as I like to now call it, but it was on May 12, 2005 when I was at E3. I walked to the Rockstar Games booth which was a fenced-in area with busses inside. I got in with the appointment I had and was ushered through the crowds and taken into one of the busses. I was mainly there for an XBOX demonstration of Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas, but I wasn't going to let this opportunity pass me by without throwing out some questions to this Rockstar PR guy. Grand Theft Auto: Liberty City Stories had just been announced two days earlier, and I knew that they wouldn't give me any real details, but I did ask if the PSP game would ever come to PlayStation 2. My exact question was "Will the game ever be ported to PlayStation 2?" and the PR guy said "no." I replied with "never?" and he said "right." This was a face-to-face question. One year and a month later, I went to a local store and bought the game for the PlayStation 2. The Lesson: Rockstar will always say something along the lines of "currently we have no plans for a ___ version of the game ____" but this doesn't mean "0mg liek what the hell man, there won't be a ___ version of that awesome game!" Imagine if Rockstar has plans for a PS2 version of VCS, and they told us now. Sony wouldn't sell a lot more PSP's. That's basically it. Anyway, you shouldn't take anything as a fact unless Rockstar Games confirms it themselves on one of their official websites or in a newsletter. The fan site community trusts magazines that they will get the small details on the new games correct, but when it comes to confirming things as important as "will there be a ported version?," I'm not confirming anything. They're only saying that so people buy PSP's because if they said they were going to release it on PS2 then people would wait for it for the better controls, better visuals (although you don't play a GTA game for the graphics..) ect. I wouldn't buy the PSP version even if it had online (An online GTA game has to be sat down and proper, and those rumors of just an online version of the multiplayer don't please me at all). And don't believe that bulls**t about them not porting it because of technicalities. They did it with LCS and they can do it with this. (And if Sqare-Enix can put FFIII on DS and remake the whole thing in 3D then anything can be done). And it's not decision in the end... it's Take Twos... and I'm sure they are gonna want compensation for the hot coffee incident (I hope I make sense here).
