anus
Hey. I want to know whether there are players which can play W3G files (Warcraft replay file format). I have some replays I really want to watch, but I can't watch them through the game because the replays are played on different versions of Warcraft. Since I can't patch my game for all of those, I need a player or codec which would be able to open this. I tried WMP and Quicktime but they don't support it. Thanks for any help. Brutuz
Google is your friend. Does this link help?
anus
I did search on Google, but I came up with stuff that is totally unrelated to what I am searching for. Every single result was like that. I already visited the page you linked me to. It does not answer my question. Thanks for the help anyway. K^2
How big are the files? Odds are, the replays do not contain the actual video data. In most games, the replay is just a list of actions taken by various players and some other relevant data required to reconstruct what happened. It still uses game engine to generate the frames, so no external program would have a chance of playing such a replay file. The best way to tell which case it is is to look at the size of the file. If it is a video file, it will generaly take up 1-10MB per minute of video. Of course, even if the replay file is that big, there is no gurantee that it is video data. Prior to filing a bug against any of my code, please consider this response to common concerns.
anus
Nah, I think they do have data in them because I downloaded them off Blizzard's site. So, isn't there anyway I could watch these in a player?
K^2
Could you give me a link? I can take a look at it and have a better idea of what kind of data it contains. Edit: Never mind. I found one. There is no way to play it with any kind of media player. The only data it contains is who moved where. You need the game to play it, and nothing else will do. Dup
You need to find out the games consoles commands. You load the w3g into the game and then the data from the w3g is played using the game engine. You can not watch these in a stand-alone player. http://www.wownation.net/world-of-warcraft...le-command.html
anus
Damn, that really sucks. It would've been much easier for me if I could watch it in a player. Dup, I'm talking about Warcraft 3 not WoW. That page links to a WoW site . Thanks for all your help anyway.
