How many people here have i psp. i have seen replies in other threads from people who want it to come out for the ps2 sooner because they do not own a psp. i have a psp. who else does?

You'd have to give up the cheat device to run VCS? Damn it. I really don't want to wait any longer, but giving up the cheat device isn't an option. I'll think of something.

I never really cared much for cheat device, but I'd hate losing all those options for LCS I would have to endure with the inevitable firmware upgrade requirement for VC Stories.

 

 

Hopefully he can find a way to get it working for higher firmwares, because I'm not gonna put off VC Stories for a save file.

It'll be a kick in the nuts of the fans if they have us upgrade just to play VC Stories, I'll tell you that much.

2.7 is the highest running Firmware currently out.

The only game that comes even just a little close to requiring it for some reason is LocoRocco.

It's completely up to R* if they want to make VCS require 2.7 : Sony doens't have a say in the matter.

In other words, if R* never really cared about the cheat device, then they might not patch it.

But Sony funds R*, so Sony can be really convincing.

All I'm saying is it's a definate that VCS wont require 2.7.

I'm not saying that it wont be patched though.

I haven't been following any firmware updates for a while now, but let's hope that R* won't have the urge to make players upgrade to a new firmware.

 

I mean, if you look back at '05, 1.5 was totally cracked already. People were running firmware with no problem, so that's a big part of why R* had people upgrade to 2.0.

 

2.0 hasn't really been cracked from what I've heard. There are only ways to downgrade to 1.5, which could brick your PSP.

 

 

So it'll go either one of two ways:

 

-2.0 is protected enough, so they won't have a reason to make you upgrade

-They just want the most secure firmware they can get, either from pressure via Sony, or because they don't want players screwing with the files.

 

They said they supported the modding community, so I don't think they'd have a problem with Cheat Device development, so now that I think about it, they probably won't have us upgrade again.

 

Let's hope I'm right...I haven't tried Cheat Device since it was originally released, but now that it's at 1.0d, maybe it's time for me to give it another shot. I'm sure I could make some good LCS movies, so I'd like to have that option available to me, while still being able to run VC Stories.

 

We'll just have to wait and see.

I do have a psp, and IF you need to upgrade, I may consider the loss of the CD worth getting VCS, as I use the CD when I have nothing better to do, VCS will solve that problem, although I will find it hard to upgrade

Unless Sony has to be jackasses and convince R* into patching it.

You do know that 2.8 was released a week ago? I believe the new Tekken requires 2.8 so there's a chance VCS might even require 2.8 but I am hoping it doesn't. If it needs 2.7 then that will make me happy, Devhook on a 1.5 PSP can emulate 2.7 so I can have homebrew, LCS with Cheat Device as well as VCS.

 

If it does require 2.8 then lets hope 2.8 gets cracked and Devhook emulated by VCS's release.

You know Devhook only runs on 1.5 PSP's and merely emulates other firmwares, just don't want anyone updating to 2.7 thinking they can run Cheat Device. Anyway 2.7 was cracked a while back, I am hoping 2.8 will be emulated soon.

Its not up to R* on what Firmware VCS will require. Rockstar hasn't confirmed anything about firmware. Also the save exploit will be patched. They have to do all of this because Sony will make them. R* likes the moding but Sony doesn't.

Yes I have a PSP (Since lauch day 12:00 AM). I will update if 2.71 hasn't been cracked by the time VCS comes out.

Well yeah you are right, the only real say is when a certain firmware has support for a audio/video that VCS requires much like with LCS and 2.0 supporting the AVC video format .

I have a PSP, got it mostly just because i wanted to play LCS, don't use it for much else. At least now with VCS coming i know my money wasn't waisted all on one game, thought i never considered that a big deal . When it comes to GTA, you have to do what it takes to make sue you can play the game. Pissed me off that LCS was held back for PSP in Australia so i had to wait for 4 months without anything to play because it was held back, but it was worth it .

well you do know that firmware 2.71 has been emulated on devhook since july 13th, well i have a psp aswell i cant wait for this game, hoping that it will require either 2.71 or less or hope devhook will emulate 2.8 soon so in case vcs is a 2.8 required game

It isn't up to R*. Only Sony have publishing and distribution rights, and that way, it needs to go through them, or Sony can reject the game and have it effectively cancelled. 2.7 or above will most likely be forced onto VCS by Sony themselves at the Publishing stage.

 

I already updated to 2.71. CheatDevice was good, but LCS is still LCS without it.

Well, im on 2.6 atm, i was on 2.0, but had to update for a new game recently. Ofcourse i'd choose VCS over the cheat device, I wouldnt take a second thought. Im sure edison maybe able to figue something out. If not, then i dont mind, you still get the cheats R* put in.

I'm on 2.8, and although homebrew would be nice, I can play games so that's all that matters. I expect that VCS will require 2.8 by the time it comes out, becuase it's a game that will sell well, and we all know Sony wants to put a stop to homebrew.

Anyways, i dont care about the cheat device in anyway, never used it, never needed it, and never will. So if updating is what i ave to do, then updating is what will happen.

I htink vcs will be able to play through devhook, because it will eventually support 2.8 emulation.

I think booster already has 2.8 emulation done and working, but won't release it becasue as soon as he does sony will have something else like 2.81, and require all new games to require that.

I think booster is waiting until the games released at the end of the year for the christmas rush come out, that way sony can't put out a new firmware and stop them from playing.

 

and anyways, I have a psp, and will probably never leave 1.5, and if I have to the highest I will go is 2.6. I'll probably just pick up a new psp off of ebay if I have to.

I would have never taken a second look at the psp if it was not for LCS.When I finally got it, I used it for everything else.The easiest way to tell what VCS will require is look at the games that come out from a month to a week before it and see what they require.There currently is no game which requires above 2.6 and 2.7 has been out since april so that gets me thinking.
