What's worse is that some people experience it running down the low grade ramp out of your Portland hideout and took massive damage for it. Those experiencing this (and ONLY those people) can benefit from the 1.1 patch which was primarily geared to address that issue. Otherwise, you just need to not sprint down the stairs, lest you end up in the drink. I'll hold it for half seconds at a time to make it down faster without disaster.
