tomirlik
I have a Radeon x550 512mb card with the latest Catalyst control centre. Sometimes, when playing SA, the screen simply goes black. For maybe a second, I'm flashed a warning message from the Catalyst control centre, but it goes by so fast I don't have time to read it. The game screen remains black, and I cannot exit, use task manager, or use start button as they don't work, so I am forced to restart my computer, at which my desktop resolution is set to the res. I was playing SA on and must revert it back. Sometimes, the black screen disappears after a few seconds and the game resumes visuals, but I cannot go to the menu or minimize the game as that will make the black screen come back, so I have no choice but to restart again. I'm guessing this is a problem with the Catalyst control centre. Will turning off the control centre help with the problem? What do u guys recommend? Thanks in advance. Forfit
I don't own an ATI card, but is the Control Center disable...erm....able? If so try it...see how that goes. It sounds more like a hardware problem though, check to make sure your card is getting adequate airflow and the fan is spinning, clear it of dust to make sure it's not overheating. Cran.
Catalyst control center is just like the nVidia control panel. Your card is probably overheating if anything, and Catalyst control center is poping up to tell you that, most likely
tomirlik
I don't think this is the case for two reasons: -This problem only happens with SA, and not with all my other games like Unreal Tournament and etc. -I was recently able to see the error report, and there was no mention of overheating being the problem (infact, it didn't say what the problem was at all sigh). BTW, this is still happening when the Catalyst control centre is disabled.
