Teqila
Why the hell do the National Association For The Advancement Of Colored People and California PTA care about video games , they have nothing to do with the organizations.
GTA3Freak-2001
I don't see the problem, if you aren't old enough by the rating to play the game then it makes sense that you can't go and buy it on your own. If you want it get your parents or if your desperate anyone in the shop that is old enough to buy it for you.
StingerSplash85
Order off the internet. They can't say anything if you're using your parents Amazon account.
CaliMex
Well you could say it sucks for the kids but the game is meant for adults like myself. Well, like someone mentioned before an unsuspecting parent may buy the game for his/her child and that person might purchase it without looking at what content the game contains. Anyway this has happened in other cities and/or states and the law or bill has been deemed unconstitutional by a court of law. That might happen to this one as well. NIKIN
actually I didn't say "unsuspecting parent", my parents allow me to play them, firstly I am 17 about the time VCS comes out, so there isn't a big age difference, and they knoiw it is just a game and I won't go on a killing spree like some people opposed to GTA think

So it is illegal to sell the game even to persons who ESRB feels it is OK for. Prior to filing a bug against any of my code, please consider this response to common concerns. NIKIN
it's easy in the UK, all the games have an age on the box
illspirit
Err, welcome to last year? This was signed into law in October 2005, and has been under an injunction by a Federal judge since December. Final ruling should be soonish, and like all the laws before and since, it will no doubt be found unconstitutional.

I wanted to add the "unsuspecting parent" because that is true with some people. I didn't want to say that you said it. My parents allowed me to play some mature games like 4 years before I became 17 but they didn't really have to look at the warning label because they saw me play the game(s) often. Also notice that it says crackhead under my name. I just can't get off the stuff. Anyway stuff will always happen but underage gamers will still get the game somehow whether their parents agree that their children are mature enough or not. I think it's going to be ruled unconstitutional as well. Edited August 5, 2006 by CaliMex

Oh my bad, I assumed it was all dependant on each game's rating so if you are 17 you can buy a MA17+ game while a 16 year old can't. Bit hypocritcal then ain't it, as I said though atleast there are ways around it even if they are annoyances. Atleast you guys can still get 18+ rated games, if a game needs to be rated R18+ in Australia then it don't get rated at all thus it doesn't get sold. jarjar
It's always been like this hasn't it? Has here anyway. Though here it's more of a guide, rating are. It's your guardians choice whether you play it or not.

Right now, my state is just like every other 49 states. You can just walk in with your parents and buy it as long as your parent approves of it. A_Didy28
also in the uk people are paranoid of underage kids getting their hands on over 18 games so they have made these changes, 1. Only a respectable adult can buy it, meaning people over 18 and you HAVE to have ID 2. If the game is a 12, 15 or 18 they have made the BBFC logo a lot bigger 3. They say you can get prosecuted but that never happens and nobody give about that rule!
