crash when dancing

i get a crash whenever i initate the dancing minigame. it starts the game, starts the music, but it appears to crash just before the arrows show up onscreen. its really annoying me, as my progress is shot, as i need to do og-log's mission 'life's a beach', where you must dance to win.

 

i have tried lowering sound acceleration to 'standard' or even 'none' etc.

 

i have tried deleting the 'control and setting' configuration file in my documents.

 

I have an on-board soundcard, a 'SoundMAX Digital Audio' card, and this does not seem to have any updated drivers out there available, unfortunately. So i have not and cannot replace them.

 

This forum won't let me search, and nothing is mentioned in the FAQs above, so, does anyone have any idea?

This is the only time it will crash, it runs perfectly fine 100% of the time.

have you got any mods installed? i've only found this happening in mods which replace the main.scm file, but not the script.img file (mods like Get CJ High and Drunk, Helicopter Magnet etc.)...if so, you'd have to start a new game without the mods to continue...if not, i wouldn't know how to solve it...the best i can offer is for you to request a SnP at Mission Help...

I redownloaded the main.scm, and im going to restart the game and see how goes it.

PS.

 

Does anyone know if there is anyway to edit a savegame to change the main.scm file it uses, therefor NOT have to start a new game?

 

I had invested some time into that game

You can edit the saved game in a HEX editor.

there is a link here that has another link to a topic wich tell you how to do it.

 

I wouldn't start on altering the savefiles if I were you - I tried. You really got to know how SA works and know about HEX editing - if you want to place objects, cars, weapons etc. the best way is to do that in a binary IPL file in HEX editor - you don't have to start a new game then, but it's hard to do.
