denisamori
Hi everyone. I have faced the following when starting San Andreas on my PC (note: I have payed as far as some missions in San Fierro and this started to happen. Specially when I inserted some musics on user track folder.) As I double click the icon to start GTA San Andreas, my monitor goes as if in stand by. Then I can see the first tag of the opening and nothing else. Whadaya think this could be? Thanks! Configuration as follows: Operating system: Windows XP SP2) Video/Graphics: Geforce FX 5500 256Mb Processor: Athlon XP 1600+ (1.3 Ghz) RAM 320Mb
balmung03
the first thing i suggest is deleting the gta_sa.set file (found in your User Files folder, usually installed in My Documents during installation of the game; if you've inserted files into the user track, you know where this is). then restart the game. perhaps a faulty .set file is the cause, in which case deleting it and restarting the game will reset all controls and options to their default level. if this does not work, i suggest a reinstall of the game. if you have modded anything, back up all the modded files you have in a separate folder, reinstall the game, and then check if it works. if it does, insert the modded files you have one at a time and start SA to see if it works at that point (sometimes a corrupted mod can screw up the game). once you've gone through all your modded files and it works, you're done and can continue the game. if at one point one of the modded files corrupts the game again, take out the mod and try it again. if it works, continue in this fashion until all the mods are accounted for, and then discard the corrupted ones. if, however, the corrupted one(s) happen to be files that were altered multiple times (like gta3.img, handling.cfg, vehicles.ide, etc. files that are modded during car mods), if you want to spend the time you can systematically take out certain modded files/lines and replace them with the originals until you come to the specific part(s) that corrupted your game. then you can continue as normal. hope that helps, and if you have any more questions, feel free to post back or pm me. denisamori
Thanks a lot for your help! The problem was with the instalation of User Tracks indeed! After cleaning up the folder (including the gta-sa.set file) everything went back to normal. One thing however I noticed was that when I had brightness expanded to a high level and tried the schools (motorbikes, boat, car and plane) the game would crash as well. That might be something related to my Video card! Just a one something that someone could have experienced as well. After bringing the brightness level down once more, it all worked fine. And I finally managed to get through the Verdant Medows level (tough one on a PC using mouse+keyboard. Using keyboard only proved better for planes. Mouse helped a lot with Choppers). Thank you!
