miriya
I found somehing interesting things. First, sorry for my poor English. Im from South Korea. GTA: ViceCity is set on 1986, and ViceCityStories is set on 1984. You can hear radio message about bridge blocking on playing VC. I herd "Hurricane Hermine(?)" - is it real name of hurricane? I searched http://weather.terrapin.com/hurricane/ see this. its sort of 80' hurricanes by year. You can find Hermine in 1980. but VC is set on 1986. and Hermine wasn't visit Miami. hmmm.. maybe my hearing miss? or that name is not real? now.. think about VCS. Its set on 1984. I searched hurricane in 1984. see this. TROPICAL STORM ARTHUR TROPICAL STORM BERTHA TROPICAL STORM CESAR HURRICANE DIANA TROPICAL STORM EDOUARD TROPICAL STORM FRAN TROPICAL STORM GUSTAV HURRICANE HORTENSE TROPICAL STORM ISIDORE HURRICANE JOSEPHINE HURRICANE KLAUS HURRICANE LILI found 12 hurricanes. and finally I found "tropical storm Isidore" is 1984, and visit Miami. when we playing VCS, maybe we can hear about Isidore ?? Do you think R* block the bridge again? Sorry for my poor English, again. thanks for reading.
Rob.
You can find Hermine in 1980. but VC is set on 1986. and Hermine wasn't visit Miami. Well, i#m not sure but wasn't VC set in a suppossed Florida rather than Miami. Although that's some pretty good research there, if you plot the 1985 hurricanes and see what one's were major and near Florida, you may of found some VCS possible references, then again. The whole idea of the hurricanes hasn't been totally confirmed yet.

The whole idea of the hurricanes hasn't been totally confirmed yet. It was said to be in Florida but its obvious that Vice City is supposed to be Miami, it shares alot of similarities. Regarding the Hurricane well if Hurricanes are part of the weather then naming them wouldn't be needed like it was in Vice City. The hurricane was only used in Vice City to explain why you couldn't access the other island, since most times when you got that radio announcement the weather was often sunny

I plot the 1984, and found 2 possible hurricanes. this is Diana and this is Isidore I think Isidore will be.. Ja750
Quote "Do you think R* block the bridge again?" Yes, I think there will be a cutscence near enough at the begining with huricaine (no name yet) ripping down the bridge or bridges? good theory? Born Acorn
Um? But I'm not sure a Hurricane will block the bridges again. That would be repetition. It might be that some bridges are under construction, or others have been knocked out in GTA3 style? I believe it was spelt "Hurricane Hermione", too, as a minor thing. CaliMex
What if this time around a hurricane causes damage to all of the bridges? It may be really similar to VC but wasn't the hurricane downgraded to a tropical storm? This time the hurricane probably happens before you can do anything in VCS and it gives you a reason for being stranded on one of the islands because the bridges are all torn up. Then later on a few more hurricanes come to pass. It could be a year where there are many hurricanes like in 2005 (or was it 2004?). Born Acorn
wasn't VC set in a suppossed Florida rather than Miami. Miami is in Florida. That wasn't what he was trying to say. He was trying to say it is based in a generic Florida, not in Miami.

Canoxa
Vice City IS supposed to be in Florida. Actually, John F. Hickory is plotting the construction of a ditch that would be flooded with water to break Florida from the upnorth states (VCPR, Public Safety debate). AZSupraT
Yes, but there is no upstate in Vice City.
Brown Streak RR
Yes, Vice City is based off of Miami guys. (IN Florida, for those that don't know their geography...). Simple as that. Vice City could basically be anywhere on the south Florida coast, but we know for sure it's in Florida. That's kinda a "uh-duh" question. @AZ: No, not upstate Vice City. Hickory proposes a ditch on the Florida state line to let Florida "drift away" from the continental United States. Not just one city floating away, but the state of Florida. I don't think they'll use hurricanes as a barrier again, but I do think they'll be in the game. (They've been confirmed, haven't they? Yep.) However, they probably won't be named after real storms. And if they are, they'll be from a completely different time period out of coincidence. Why do you think the GTA franchise is filled with all these fictional companies? Hopefully I answered a few questiones.

True but in SA the bridges were also blocked to keep you from driving into "unlocked" areas. I don't know how they would keep you from swimming across but the weather might be the reason why you can't do that. We'll just have to wait and see but I hope hurricanes do make it into the finalized game.
