SA Map Cleaner Problem

as far as i'm aware Mapcleaner only really affects the gta.dat file and the gta3.img.

 

you can manually remove the map from the gta.dat, and remove the files from the gta3.img later , if you use the water file and the scm from steve's mapcleaner package.

on a totally off topic note, it seems that the SA engine is limited to using a maximum of 6 img files. wow.gif

 

is ne1 going to figure out y it doesnt work for alot of people and like me and when will it update so it will fix the problem where it doesnt work for some people like me (i did everything it says to do and i have SA 1.0 and i tried on freshly installed SA)

1: Download Myriad Islands Land Base for SA

 

2: Use the INCLUDED map cleaner (version 0.3, not 0.4)

 

3: Instead of installing Myriad after cleaning, just remove the Myriad entries from the INCLUDED gta.dat.

 

4: Add your entries.

Tell you what, can any make or spare a "clean' gta.dat? If you want me to prove that I own San Andreas, I can do that. But I can't get any version of map cleaner to work.

There is no point in using a "clean" gta.dat, the game will crash if there are too many unused files in the img. Otherwise there wouldn't be much need for a Map Cleaner, no?

I found a way around the problem. I have Liberty City installed now

I'm doing the modifikation GTA Sweden Total Convertion (http://www.modarkivet.se) and I'we released two beta releases of a little stunt park ( Linkin Park tounge.gif) that will be some where in the swedish forrest... All thou some people have problems to get it woorking after they have used Map Cleaner... for most people it woorks after a rebuild of GTA3.IMG and a rebot... But some say that it doesen't help.. but maby they only makes something wrong when they are replasing and adding "the files".

Well, you put the MapCleaner.exe somewhere, right? After you've used it, there will be a MapCleaner.log file in the same directory. Double-click on it and it should open in a text editor. Select (ctrl+a) and copy (ctrl+c) all the text, click this link to start writing a new PM, paste (ctrl+v) the text in the large box next to the emoticons, enter my name and a message title in the appropriate boxes, and click the "Send Message" button.

PS: Why have we all never gotten together and created our own clone SA EXE or own sandbox/freeroam game using existing open source win-based engines? I was struck with this idea when you said R* can't code. I'm more than positive we have enough talent here to do something phat like our own game. Was not Delfi cloning GTA2?

The directory/ide structure of Sa 2.0 should be the same, however...

 

Or is it just not possible to do this with v2 of SA ?

v2 is not moddable out of the box. if your going to use map cleaner, then you will need to run the game with a pre-2.00 exe. Read this topic for more info.

welp, a fresh install and a flush of my temp int files made my map cleaner work... Also I updated the windows installation on my girl's pc so that may have helped. Yay.

 

Anyone know why collision files are screwy when I use Panda for max8?

why you don't just use Col IO from the Kam Scripts, i think that one is much better then that panda script.

to be honest, I'd like to. I just never got around to learning it's particular functions and controls in order to export map collision with it. I simply don't know the proper way to use it.

The animated objekts of levelxre.IDE are not possible to use by mission script.

 

I m working with other guys on a map mod. VC>SA

The mapcleaner seems to work very well.

The VC map is playable in the game.

No i wonna get the parachute to work.

But it crash because the objekt #PARACHUTE seems invalid

 

the objekt.dat is the original

the levelxre.IDE is the original

and all *para-modells and the PARACHUTE.ifp are available in gta3.img

 

I can spawn the simple objekts of levelxre.IDE, like kmb_skip or kmb_parachute

But not any of these objekts:

Any idea, whats the reason ?

That anim entry for 3131 requires the files PARACHUTE.dff, paracx.txd and levelxre.ifp in gta3.img. Make sure they are really there. If they are, it's probably not a problem with Map Cleaner.

 

I think other people got the parachute working fine after using the cleaner. I believe they just re-enabled the script.img line in gta.dat, and put the old code back into the script which calls the external parachute script. Did you try if the original code works? Maybe it's a scripting problem?

Thx for effort. We found the reason. It needs new ID numbers. Maybe the old are used by

others of the new map files. Parachute works now.

Im trying to install gta criminal russia and i try to run the map cleaner but when it gets to deleting it comes up with the error shown it is a clean install at 1.00 eu it has no mods and i am running vista but i have given admin rights to the cleaner please need help
