[REL] SanAndreas - Recoverer 1.1.0

Hi!

I've made a little tool to get the original sanandreas files back. For example: If you have added a car to gta3.img and forgot to make backup, you can start this tool, put your sanandreas dvd into your drive and recover the file.

It's easy to understand and you can get all your sanandreas files back without making a backup or reinstall the full game.

I don't know whether a tool like this exist - i haven't found one (only backup tools - but what if you have forgotten to make one?).

So, here is the readme:

GTA SanAndreas - Recoverer

Version: 1.1.0

----------------------------------------------

Author: TDO

Web: http://www.gtamods.de

About this program and how it works / how to use it:

----------------------------------------------

A lot of people tried to install a new car, mod, map or something else to sanandreas. After starting the game, it crashed and the didn't made a backup of the old files.

This is the part, where this program can be used:

1. Select your SanAndreas Directory

2. Select your DVD-ROM Drive

3. Choose a category on the left side

4. Choose a file you want to recover

5. Put your SanAndreas DVD in your DVD-ROM Drive

6. Click 'Recover' and wait a few seconds/minutes

7. The file has been overwritten and the game can be started (modded) again

Hav a lot of fun wink.gif.

Other:

----------

It's not possible to choose/recover multiple files in one procedure. Maybe this will be added in the future wink.gif.

Why this program?:

------------------------------

I have asked Take2 whether it is allowed to put the (some) original sanandreas files on a server for download, i got the answer, that it's not allowed (sure, it would be illegal).

So i have made this little program. It's simple, everyone knows how to use it and you need the original san andreas dvd to use it.

The best thing is, you don't have to reinstall the full game after you have made some testings with the gta3.img or any other file wink.gif.

Check www.gtamods.de for updates.

Everyone can upload this program on every website... you don't have to ask for permission - it's free wink.gif

Here is the Download + little Screenshot: http://www.gtamods.de/gtasa_tools.php (SanAndreas Recoverer - v. 1.1.0)

I'm from germany so i don't know if this works with the us version (tested with the german/europe dvd version of the game). And my english isn't perfect but i hope you understand what to do wink.gif

Be sure, your sanandreas dvd works and is readable...

Wow, very nice idea, should be usefull man icon14.gif

A question though, say you tell it the error's in gta3.img, it's going to replace the whole gta3.img isn't it. If taht is correct, maybe you should make the program more advance, give it the support to open img archives, extract the model (keeping it in the programs memory) and then replacing the one in the users gta3.img.

That's a goog idea, i thought about it too. But i think it's not so easy as it seems because the gta3.img is located in the .cab files on your dvd (like any other file). So, it has to be extracted from there to a temporary place where it has to be extracted or listed a second time to get only one dff / txd file.

I don't think that it's possible to list all the files located in gta3.img out from a cab file. So you can extract the gta3.img anywhere you want, get in there with img tool and extract one file.

A long way but it's easier than reinstalling the full game wink.gif

And thanks for the positive comments wink.gif

  • 2 years later...

Sorry about the 2 year bump, but Avast tells me that the program has a trojan called Win32:Trojan-gen {Other}.

Is this a false positive or what?

Some apps use a particular type of algorithm (keygens, for example) which some virus scanners will recognise as a virus. This is false however.
