The Fast And The Furious: Tokyo Drift

I just saw The Fast And The Furious: Tokyo Drift. I thought it was a great movie. Best out of the 3 made so far. I really didn't expect Vin Diesl to return at the end.

It doesn't look too good. I may see it...but I don't think I'll enjoy it too much.

Guybrush: Unless you're referring to something other then the Vin Diesel comment, I saw Vinny in a preview for the movie on TV. It's no spoiler.

I'll probably give this a miss until it's out on tv or something, it doesn't look that good or anything from the looks of the trailers, just lots of shiny cars taking alot of wide corners

And for me.

Not that I'd go see it in theatres. But I'm sure there's people who go "oh nose, I watched no trailers cuz den a movie is more fun cuz u don't have any skewed expectations."

On top of that, how hard are spoiler tags? I mean seriously. It's 19 characters. Is that hard to type? a whole 19 characters?

Once again, I am given reason enough to start setting entry exams for the internet! anuj_cop.gif

As bad as the movies are I always see them, if for just a laugh at how bad they are. I was hoping it would be better then the others since its directed by japanese guy instead of the joke that is Rob Cohen. Just watch out for the morons trying to drift their mom's old camry's. I'll probably go see it sometime.

Do it, do it, do it, do it, do it, do it, do it. The world will be a better place then.

Yes, I replied just to say that. Because The Fast And The Furious: Tokyo Drift is just too lame to get a comment from me. Plus it's continuing the 3d generation of ricers.

I liked the part in the trailer where the guy says "LETS RICE!" Well, it sounds like that anyway.

This movie looks so utterly horribly bad that it's hilariously great. Hopefully this movie will inspire ricers to drift into a brick wall at top speed.

Ah. Must be a Canada thing, then. Although, it's not like you've been counting down the days untill this movie opens ever since it's been announced, and are shattered emotionally and mentally because you realized that Vin Diesel returns at the end.

Despite the probable bad acting contained within this film, I must admit that the cars look nice. That will probably be reason enough for me to rent it.

This series needs to die already. I might just wait until I can get it free for rental just to see how cheesy and laughable it is.

If anything good comes out of this movie, maybe it could thin out the herd from dumbf*cks trying to drift.

First movie was best because of the characters. Second movie sucked.

Drifting in a rwd car is really fun, you should try it, but you probably suck at it.

Who cares about the rice! And cars in the movie werent all rice, some very nice ones in there.

It was a good movie, cant wait for the 4th.

Drifting is a really f*cking stupid way to get around a corner, not at all efficient.

Don't worry about ricers copying from the movie. 90% of the cars they afford are front wheel drive, so unless they have a steady e-brake hand, they'll stick to straight lines and shifting like they stole it.

Supra, 350z, 240sx, rx7/8, miata, are pretty popular RWD cars, everything else is FWD or AWD.

I didn't think the movie looked that good. Almost like a sell-out. Don't they have Bow Wow as a driver, and the dude from Jarhead, and Vin Diesel is back?

They should have stopped the sequel at 2 Fast 2 Furious.

It's already been established that drifting is not the best way to complete a turn. But it is the most exciting way to do it. It's much more fun to go through a turn sideways in my opinion. Of course, I'd never do it my car. #1, I can't afford the money for new tires every month. #2, I drive a damn '89 Integra. There'll be no drifting when I go to the track.

I saw the movie and it was better than I expected it to be. The storyline itself wasn't very realistic, but all the drifting was real so I really enjoyed the stunts. It's true that Tokyo Drift does not depict the real drifting scene in Japan, but who really cares. Exactly how realistic was MI:3? I don't expect movies to be very realistic, because that's exactly what they are... movies. So who really cares?

I saw the late showing of the movie to avoid the ricers seeing the earlier showings who would be trying to drift their civics after the movie. It actually is possible to drift a FWD car and have control over it. Not at all an easy task. Much harder than drifting a RWD car and doesn't look as nearly as exciting as you don't get the same "smoke show" and speed as you would with a RWD car.

Here's a link to FWD Minivans drifting.

FWD Minivan Drift

Edit: Also, Bow Wow did not play a huge part in the movie. Not like they made it seem. They basically tried to use the popularity that he has to draw more people in to see the movie. He has no involvement in teaching anyone how to do any type of drifting, Thank God. He's a driver and has a car in the movie, but he does no drifting. In fact, his car is the dumbest car I've ever seen in a F&F movie. To be honest, I think by making his car look as stupid as it did, they were making a parody of themselves. They definately made it look that stupid on purpose. Let's just call it... The Hulk-Mobile.

Hmm those min-van's did not look like they were FWD, or am I mistaken? They are both Subaru Rex so they would most probably be AWD since I only know of the very early Subaru's being not AWD.

This movie is not realistic because it has white, black and Spanish people it in. We all know there are no white, black and Spanish people in Japan.

Whats the age rating? I want to go see it.

I like the Fast and The Furious as i love cars that are modified, not riced though. They look like sh*t.

It was actually way better than I expected. I went to enjoy it and I did.

There was no mention of NAWSZZZZZZZ and it was seen used once. The cars were a lot less USA "DUB" sh*te and were faithfull to the D1 scene style.

There was less of the "Reading From a Cue Card" type acting and the film was a lot more fluid. The lead character is supposed to be a bit of a slow talking redneck and he is much better than that Paul Walker pretty boy.

The action scenes were great. The CG was less obvious than the last movies and flowed very well. I saw this in the cinema and the atmosphere was fantastic with the sound and big picture. It had us quite on edge during the racing scenes too.

Well made, well-ish written and enjoyable film. It did its job at entertaining myself anf my girlfriend who had just passed her test. We also had the pleasure of watching an asian kid in daddies BMW wrap it into a lamp post after seeing the film.

I was also nearly killed by someone on my local country roads trying to drift a Renualt Clio round a blind bend I was approaching from the opposite direction. They ended up on my side of the road out of control, but luckily I have the reations of superman and managed to avoid them by going round them on their side of the road.

My verdict, go to see the film to enjoy it and you will enjoy it. Cinema is worth it as the film was quite intense in places. If you just wanna go to nitpick and go "lol ricers", don't wase your time.

Man, I only have to quote myself for this.

Since everything that's displayed in these F&F movies is copied into real life by the designated "ricers", I'm sure to see some poor misguided souls try to drift in their mother's honda civics.

And while I'm driving home on a dark road at 3 in the morning, I'll probably get T-boned by some kid who tries to re-enact a drift with his cheap front-wheel drive car that has stickers and lots of neon, but no seatbelts.

And when I'm in the hospital I not so much pray for my own recovery, but for God to please kill that motherf*cker.

Think about it.

That's right, I predict the future!

Goddamn kids these days.

Spidey.

It was a good movie. It actually had substance this time. And the cars used in the film were actually real and not "riced" up to the maximum this time around.

Although it's kind of stupid that they just have to fit some kind of gang or crime element into each film, it still came off pretty good.

And the Vin Diesel cameo wasn't until the end, it was handled well.

Yeah I was surprised, it was actually pretty decent much better then the first two movies especially 2F2F. I dunno it just had more substance to it and was a bit more serious. The action scenes were much better, hardly any CG and when it was they were smooth transitions between real and CG. Vin Diesel's appearance was handled well and was actually quite cool.
