The-end
Hey guys, i just noticed thsi card from the Geforce 7 series, it's extreamly cheap at only £45, anyhow ill cut to the chase is this a big improovemtn over my current (old) card Geforce fx5200 128mb. When i get roudn to buying it i will also purchase a 1 gig ram stick (currently only have 512mb) im nto aiming to play new games, just so i can play games like San Andreas and Far cry at decent graphics level, currntly i can only play San ANdreas at super low settings same with Far Cry. Anyhow yeah how much Is the 7300 over the 5200. Thanks in advance.
Wolf68k
You're first problem is that your current card is an AGP, while this 7300 is a PCIE. Now ignoring that major fact. You could cram a rocket up the FX5200's butt and it still wouldn't match the speed or the performance of the 6000series or 7000series cards. The only 7000series card that I know of off hand that is AGP is the 7800GS, which that site doesn't seem to have as far as I cared to look (which wasn't too far). But they do a have a 6600 for about £20 more which will do you just fine. Or more closer to a £40 budget they have a 6200, which you will see a monster of improvement but I don't really suggest it...too many bad stories about the 6200 line. Cran.
fx5200 is either PCI or AGP, and i'll bet you don't have a PCI-express slot. You'll need to upgrade your motherboard to have a PCIe video card.
Bryce.
If you do have an empty PCIe slot, then yes you can just remove the old one and insert the new one. If you don't, as Cran. said, you will have to purchase a new mobo. Keep in mind when purchasing a mobo, that it can accommidate everything that your current mobo can. It would severely suck to purchase a mobo that can't support your current ram or to purchase one without enough IDE inputs etc. Good luck
GTA3Freak-2001
FX5200 doens't come in PCIe so he can't have a PCie slot unless he has one of those dual AGP-PCIe which I highly doubt. You are better off just getting a 6600GT in AGP format.
