gryphin
Ok, I searched before posting this time, see I can learn. But, I didn't find what I was looking for. My question is this, what is the deal with your flying skill? I have flown a lot but my skill has not increased. Do you have to complete a certain mission or go to pilot school or something before it will increase? Or does it just take a whole Lot of flying to gain skill? Thanks for any help. -Nate
Jake
I think it starts when you start flying school, but I could be wrong since I haven't done that forever.
rfv9_ujm0
it takes plenty of flying to get a bit of flying skill but there is an easier way... getting good scores in flight school will increase your skill alot.

At the start of the game, you can jump the gate at the LS Airport and steal the Shamal or Dodo. The Shamal is the much better choice for this. You can do loops around LS/Red County; just be sure not to stray over LV or Flint County because you don't need the hassle of Hydras coming after you with 4 stars. You can also fly out over the water, although that can activate the gang territory glitch which I personally try to avoid. I think it takes about 5 real minutes of constant flying at maximum speed and full throttle (in the Shamal) for every increase in your skill level; it's a slow and tedious process and should only be done if you are preparing a starter save with a bunch of stuff maxed. Otherwise, as stated previously, your better bet is to wait until after flight school because passing those tests gives major boosts to your flight skill. One caveat if you do wish to max your skill early: many people claim that this can cause the "Taxi Glitch" where the taxi mission always says that there are no fares available even when there are plenty of people around. If you do this, make sure the taxi mission is already complete and/or test the mission after every couple of skill bumps to ensure this doesn't happen. Short answer: flying/boating beyond the map boundaries on the open water can cause additional gang territories to appear.
