I wrote this for english, in about 3 hours, while listening to one song the entire time. I hint at what it is in the story, but its pretty obvious. Enjoy.

Fascination

Not even his slightly obese body could ruin Saturday night, especially when summer had begun that Tuesday. Carl Callastaki had come home from work, exhausted from lifting wooden crates for a whole week, along with anticipating the amount of excitement he would experience tonight, this faithful night. “Fascination” was the best club in town, run by the best of the best, 35 year-old Dolly Dee, the most famous young woman in Vice. The DJ that she hired was taught by the best, and played the best music.

1987 had been a dreadful year for Carl, having broken up with his girlfriend of 2 years and losing his dog “Tightlips” (for he never barked). But for the past few months in the beginning of 1988, everything was turning up roses for Carl. He got more interested in the popular music of the times, Dead or Alive, Gary Numan, Tears for Fears, and his favorite, Matthew Wilder. His song “Break my Stride” had completely put his life in a new direction. He stopped going home after work, sulking in his lost relationship with Kat, and began to dance at clubs. His job left him extremely tired when he left, but once he stepped on the dance floor, the lights energized his spirit, the music flowed through his soul, and the several cosmopolitans from the bar surged through his veins like the poppy heroin he had struggled to quit back in ‘85. Good times were his new drug, and music was the syringe.

Carl’s phone rang, instantaneously picking it up to hear his good friend Rico bark “Happy Birthday!”

“Thanks, Ric. I’m definitely going to have a spectacular time. I’m going to Fascination tonight to celebrate.”

“Hah, you’ve been going there every Saturday night for the past 5 months. I would consider it celebrating.”

“Yeah, but still. The music’s exhilarating, and to celebrate the day of my birth, I’m gonna dance my ass off.”

“You better look for a birthday gift too, if you catch my drift. I’ll tag along, if ya don’t mind.”

“Of course not. Help me get with the ladies.”

“Alright. Pick me up in 2 hours. Drive the Delorean.”

“You got it, man,” Carl hung up the phone. Meeting Rico in Fascination on his second return had been very fortunate. Getting a friend out of his newfound happiness was great, and having a fellow bachelor not tied down to accompany him in clubs made one night stands an even more remarkable experience.

9:40 hit the clock, and out stepped Carl in his flashy White Armani suit, reflecting the crystal moonlight hovering above the massive ocean. He walked with a sexually intimidating strut to his Delorean, adrenaline running through his skin-covered veins. The drive to Rico’s place on 6th avenue, and then on to Fascination took 20 minutes.

They reached the club at 10:03, and entered through the 40’s noir-nostalgic doorway, into a room of abundant exuberance larger than Carl’s house. Someone had spread around to the club regulars that it Carl’s birthday. They all knew him, or at least knew of him. They knew he always danced his heart out every Saturday night, for he was seen on the dance floor “rippin’ it up.” Before the people started to arrive, that someone requested upon Carl’s entering that the DJ would play “You Spin Me Right Round” by Dead or Alive, Carl’s favorite dance song.

The techno beat began, and Carl’s head spun to the DJ’s booth. He was looking right at Carl, and smiled. Carl bopped his head to the beat, and went onto the dance floor. People screamed and clapped towards his exuberant movements, and all went with the beat. Carl began dancing his heart out. The adrenaline taking full force, he got everybody to stop surrounding him and to dance with him. Everybody did. Men, women, young 18 year-old girls, attracted by his now 27 year-old maturity and energetic life force, along with Mediterranean looks that made James Bond look like a hobo.

For an hour, the music fueled Carl, along with the customary 3 cosmopolitans. Rico had left with a girl he met there, and wished him a happy birthday. A bouncer came down onto the floor, and invited him up to the VIP lounge.

“Dolly Dee has invited you up to the VIP lounge. She insists you come up.”

Carl was amazed. Not once had he been up there, and he had been very curious of what Dolly Dee was like.

“Alright! Thanks. Up the stairs to the left?”

“Yes. Have a good time.” He smiled at Carl and walked away. Carl felt a rush of excitement flow through him. His energy calmed a bit, just enough to keep cool in the lounge. He didn’t want to make a bad impression in front of Dolly Dee herself.

He walked up the stairs, making each step more graceful than the last. He reached the top, opened the door, and was greeted by Dolly Dee. Her bright blue eyes were beautiful, her dirty blonde hair flowing down her shoulders like water down a cataract. Her smile filled his eyes, her teeth so white. He had a hard time talking his eyes off of them, until she spoke to him.

“It’s a pleasure to meet you, Carl, right?”

“Yeah,” He tumbled on his tongue, his words knocked out by her beauty.

“I’ve noticed you in my club for the past 5 months. You dance more than half the people here, and better than all of them.”

“Thank you, I just love it here.”

“Thank you, and did you like my request for you?” So, it was her who figured out my favorite song, Carl said to himself.

“H-How…”

“I’ve been watching you with delight, your moves are so great. All the times that song was on you did all my favorite moves of yours.”

Carl, now realizing her flirtation, gained more confidence and joined in with it, not at all wanting it to end.

“Well thank you, and might I add you look stunning tonight.” Dolly felt her heart beat a bit faster. Carl could feel it too.

“Happy birthday, too, Carl. What gifts have you gotten?”

“Hmm, nothing, really.”

“Oh! Well I find that everyone must get at least one gift,” Dolly said with a certain hint in her tone. Carl caught her wink, and knew where it was going. His spirits jumped.

“Ah, well, yeah. Looks like it wont be happening though.”

“Aw, don’t be so sure about that. I have something for you. Come with me to my place to find out.” Her exotic grin towards him got a similar response, and she picked up a nearby phone on a small wooden coffee table.

“Johnny, I’m leaving early tonight. Close up at regular time. I have plans.”

She hung up fast enough to not hear any protest. She knew what she wanted. And it was all underneath that White Armani Suit.

Carl, grabbed her hand, and they went down the stairs. Descending the stairs with such a beautiful woman felt like going down to earth with an angel to him. They went out the doors, and the Delorean had been brought to the front by the valet. Carl handed the boy in the red vest a 20, winked, and put Dolly into the car. He got in, slid his keys in, and rode off into what looked like, a Fascinating night.
