Gina
Hmmm... how do you get the Subway to open? Whenever I go down to it, it's ALWAYS closed! Can anyone help me!
Jake
Dont you have to have other islands open to use the subway/go in the subway? I dunno I could be wrong since I never use it really other than if I want to drive a car in there and get hit by the train.

You get the subway to open at the same time that the bridge and tunnel gets open.
Mainland Marauder
It tells you in the game that it opens when you unlock Staunton Island. "You tell me exactly what you want, and I'll explain to you very carefully why it cannot be."
rav0
The subway connects the three islands. It will be available once you have unlocked at leastthe seconf island. To unlock more islands, just play through the game. Certain missions will unlock the next island. To unlock Staunton Island (second island), you need to pass the mission "Last Requests" (Hint: Once you're up to Last Requests, don't complete it untill you've done the other missions that are available to you. If I told you why, I'd spoil the game).
GTA_Loco
Add to rav0's info, if you're in Staunton already and was wondering when the subway leading to SSV would open or the bridge going there passable, finish "A Drop in the Ocean" for Donald Love first. I believe you can't "cheat" using a boat in Staunton if you want to go to SSV before the subway opens. There're what appear to be pipeline barriers on both directions via water leading to SSV, and unlike SA (don't know about VC), in GTA3 you can't go far via the sea should you think you can work your way around via the waters to go to SSV. There's an invisible barrier that won't allow you to go any further. In SA, you can "infinitely" travel via the open water.
