Rob.
Ok, so i've had my DVD ROM drive for around a year and recently when I qas putting DVD's into it, it started to come up with errors such as "Please insert disc" and it doesn't seem to be able to read any DVD's what so ev,r, it makes some strange sounds and then begins to stick up the PC making it run slow. Is it the fact that the DVD reader has just worn away, and i need to get a new one, or is there another way to solve this problem. I've tried cleaning the lens with one of those cleaner CD's, but it has no effect. Thanks
K^2
Does it still read CDs fine? There is a chance that this is a problem with firmware or drivers. Try updating both. If that does not help, and you allready tried lense cleaning, the odds are that it is going bad and you'll have to replace it. Fortunately, DVD-ROM drives are rather cheap these days. Prior to filing a bug against any of my code, please consider this response to common concerns.
