pdescobar
The nightvision goggle spawns become active after you pass "Breaking the Bank @ Caligula's". They are at the 3 locations marked on SAM as well as inside Madd Dogg's mansion. The thermal/infrared goggle spawns become active after you pass "Black Project." They are at the 2 locations marked on SAM as well as inside Madd Dogg's mansion and Zero's shop. However, these can only be picked up once; if you get them from a particular pickup location, they will never respawn there again.

The thermals are on the platform with the control room where you go to open the bay doors at the start of the Black Project mission and the nightvisions are at the top of the tower close to the opening in the fence where you can enter. Unless you've modded your SA, none of the four thermal goggle pickups will respawn after you get them in a given game.

I have read this all over the place but one time while doing "A Home In The Hills" I accidentally walked into the pickup of goggles inside Madd Dogg's crib, but when I went back there after the mission they had respawned. I probably had some before getting the pickup, do you think that would make a difference to this? On a side note, weren't the flowers supposed to not respawn as well? They always respawned in my games.

gillies
I see, so is it just the goggles in Madd Dogg's place that respawn or do all of them (there are two kinds of goggles aren't there? Which kind are the ones in Madd Dogg's crib?).
crazyanurag
I have read this all over the place but one time while doing "A Home In The Hills" I accidentally walked into the pickup of goggles inside Madd Dogg's crib, but when I went back there after the mission they had respawned. well, the goggles respawn as long as you don't have them in your inventory/arsenal(after picking them up) when you save the game...thus, picking one up, and replacing it by a Parachute means that they'll respawn even after the game is saved...if, however, the game is saved while in possession of the goggles acquired from any of the spawn points, they don't spawn any longer in that particular location...this has been my experience in both PS2 and PC V1... I probably had some before getting the pickup, do you think that would make a difference to this?no mate, i doubt gin would have anything to do with it On a side note, weren't the flowers supposed to not respawn as well? They always respawned in my games.i've never heard of that one...the flowers always respawn for me, but i hardly ever have used them, so i should prob'ly test it out first... crazyEdit: the one at Madd Dogg's are the Night-Vision goggles... gillies
no mate, i doubt gin would have anything to do with it Lmao. Well as you know I meant I probably had some goggles in my possesion already, I remember rather well that I picked them up accidentally then after the mission was over and I had saved I went back there to see if they had come back and they were there again. I would still have had the goggles on me after saving too.

As far as I understand the issue, the thermal goggle spawns are type 3 pickups which are one-time-only pickups that are only supposed to be used for mission-related spawns (such as the Toreno's Last Flight helipad pickups, for example). Normal replenishing pickups are type 15. As a result, if you pick up a pair and go back later in that game (such as after saving) they should not respawn. I never had any reason to test it too thoroughly though. I know I did lose the Big Ear spawn in one game, but I can't tell you the specifics of whether they were in my possession when I saved or not. In theory, that shouldn't matter, but SA isn't exactly bug-free. On a side note, weren't the flowers supposed to not respawn as well? They always respawned in my games.i've never heard of that one...the flowers always respawn for me, but i hardly ever have used them, so i should prob'ly test it out first...I've never heard that either and don't recall ever losing a flower spawn. All the flowers in the SCM are the proper type as well. crazyEdit: the one at Madd Dogg's are the Night-Vision goggles... You'll Never Walk Alone Madd Dogg's mansion has both kinds of goggles, just like Area69. One kind (thermal, according to 708145) is in the bar area near the "PS2" and the other kind (nightvision, according to 708145) is near the kitchen, IIRC. The spawn issue only affects the thermal/infrared goggles and not the nightvision ones and so having both kinds in the same spot just adds to the confusion... gillies
For when you want to play nice and sweet you can't go wrong with flowers. It is important to note that once you take them from a location they will NOT respawn so be careful when acquiring them. I expect this is due to that printed guide which you have proved wrong on several occasions PD.
