mickarrow
THE NEVERENDING MODEL *goal: NEM (NeverEnding Model) is a modelling game, one in wich anyone can participate. The goal is to make one model made by several people. In turns, each participant can add, delete, or change anything to the model as they like. Of course there are some restrictions. You have a one week time-limit, a maximum amount of polies and a maximum amount of textures you may use. *Why should I play?: Besides the fact that it's fun to collaborate with different people on the same project, it may give you an insight on how other people approach a model. The texture and polycount limit may (or may not) let you see a different approach towards modelling, and might make you more aware of the polies and amount of textures you (used to) use on a model. The time limit is there to keep the game from comming to a stop. *general rules: - If you want to request a turn, start your reply with 'I GOT IT'. Here goes : first one asking, first one gets. - You can only request a turn after someone has posted an addition. - Once it's your turn, you got 1 week to finish your addition. If you exceed this time limit, the turn will go the first person who posts 'I GOT IT'. - You can add a maximum of 150 polies per turn. Additions higher then 150 polies will not be accepted. - You can add OR change a maximum of 2 textures per turn. Preferably less then 2. The re-use of textures is greatly encouraged. - you can participate as many times as you like, as long as there's someone else in between turns. - you can change, delete or add anything to the model, as long as your end polycount doesn't exceed your given 150 polies. For example: if the current polycount is 1230, your end polycount may not exceed 1380. - Always save your model as NEM.dff, and your textures as NEM.txd. Both Max and Zmod can import dff's, and for textures it's easier to just have one archive instead of multiple links to textures. * rules on posting an addition: In order of keeping track of the entire process, I'll edit the 'model history' in the post below. Therefore, when posting an addition, please do so in the following format: - name - link to the dff and txd (Max users attention!: save your dff as a VC dff, think of the Zmod users.) - polycount = (old number) + (addition) = (new number) - tat (total amount of textures) = (old tat) + (addional tat) = new tat - addition: a brief explanation of what you've changed/ added - comments: optional Example: - mickarrow - nem.dff, nem.txd - polycount = 1230 + 148 = 1378 - tat = 9 + 2 = 11 - addition: I added seven lampposts - comments: new lamppost to brighten up the model...lol. - pic: ... So, that's it. I hope you enjoy this little game! Good luck to all! Edited June 5, 2006 by mickarrow

mickarrow
Lil'Momo, congratz on being the first to participate I added you to the model history. ps: Your screen looks kinda weird though, it seems like the building is falling, wich is not the case. If you want I'll make a quick render of it in Max and add it to the model history.
