~Giggle~
I was just wondering something about using an external harddrive as an internal. If you took it out of it's cradle (I think it is called that) could you basically plug it into a PC case and would it work? And also, would it work out cheaper to separately buy a cradle and internal HD and fit them together yourself rather than buy a ready made one? Thanks for any help. |Zephyr|
Yes you can take the hard drive out of its enclosure (thats what I call it) and plug it into your computer. I reckon the external you have is just IDE so it will be compatible with your motherboard. About buying a hard drive and an enclosure and putting them together, this is also possible and a lot cheaper than ready made ones. In fact, I put my own external together about 2 days ago now. A 200GB SATA hard drive and the SATA to USB rnclosure cost me $115, the ready made ones were something like $150.
