HesseJames
Hi, I would like to ask a question about GTA-VC in combination with VCMP. I bought my VC last year in USA and I guess that it is an international version (I am able to install english, french, italien, german and other languages). My GTA-VC.exe 17-Mar-2003; 11:26; Size 4008 Kbytes (Explorer) I didn't manage to get VC-MP started despite the server works very well, can be administrated and I am familiar with all that usual things (some would call it traps) like Firewall, server password and IP adresses. In my case the client does not connect to the server. If I try to start the VC-MP client (server running) GTA-VC looks for the Play-CD indicated by the spinning CD-icon, the monitor gets dark like starting a game but immediately the previous window with VC-MP returns. No additional error message, no Bluescreen. Even Dr.Watson does not report an error. GTA-VC was installed on a freshly installed WindowsXP SP2 and run once prior to VC:MP installation, alternatively with WIN2000 compatibility activated. No previous MTA or others were installed. I have red a lot of comments about GTA-VC Multiplayer-Problems. In some of them german or australian GTA-VC versions were reported to be a problem. My question here: which version of GTA-VC is known to be successful in combination with VC-MP or MTA ? After the first problems with VC:MP I tested different language settings and all available VC-MP version A through F and different Multiplayer MODS (MTA is not working, GTAT is operational). Any help would be appreciated.

HesseJames
Hi, in the meantime I continued my investigation of the mentioned VC-MP startup problem. This time I tried to use different EXE-files (only no-** versions were available for me). Astonishing enough that one of these was successful to start VC-MP ! Just only the replacement of the original EXE-file with the no-** version gave me the capability to participate VC-MP games in the internet and on local servers (no-** version is 1.0). The use of the original EXE again resulted in the same startup problem ! Due to the fact that VC-MP-versions higher than 0.1d seem to use a no-** control mechanism all newer versions than 0.1d don't work and so I would be isolated from future development. Do others have the same experience ? Which bytes do I have to change that I can transform my original EXE in a VC-MP compatible one ? I have german WinXPpro installed. GTA is installed in C:\Program Files\Rockstar Games\Grand Theft Auto Vice City, english language is activated. It is the original GTA-EXE that I am using. I can apply the patch 1.1 (english version) that results in a GTA-EXE of a different size and newer date. MD5 of org. EXE-files is fd5e1eb3831bdb0a4649cb6074f81885
