imheretostay
My moms laptop won't start, all of a sudden. I've tried safemode and all that, but each time, when it gets to the screen where it should load Windows, it gives the blue screen of death, with these error messages: This one is on the very top: UNMOUNTABLE_BOOT_VOLUME This one near the bottom: 0x000000 0x81AD65D0, 0xC0000006, 0x000000, 0x000000
Dup
Looks like the boot sector on the hard drive is corrupt. Check this Use Win XP boot CD to load the recovery console and follow this procedure. Also, this is usually casued by a power outage or a dodgy power connection to the drive. If not it could have been a virus. Check and make sure there are no Viruses and the drive is fitted correctly. She says she was installing Office 2003, but her laptop is from 2002, so it's quite weak. I suppose the most likely reason is power outage.
