shinbun
hi im new to these forums and i need some help. recently i purchased Vice City (upgrading from my old ps2 version) and now its going a bit strange. This has been going on since i bought the game but now i cant play it at all. ok so the problem is whenever i try to load my savegame it comes up with an error message called "Unhandled Exception". It reads: Unhandled exception: c0000005At address: 004c40d2 that is what it exactly says. Does any1 know what i can do to fix this? also the mods i am using to play are: New Vice City, a bunch of car mods (which have been all working fine), also i have i a bunch of .bmp skins in the skins folder. Also i have changed the class of some cars using CarEd1.4 My specs: Intel Pentium 4 - 3.00Ghz (2 CPUs) 1022MB RAM NVIDIA GeForce FX Go5700 - 128MB Direct X 9..1c Windows Vista j/k XP Realtek AC97 Audio tnx if u can help
Justin
the mods i am using to play are That'll be the problem then. Re-install the game. This will get rid of all mods (back them up first if you'd like to keep them). Then fire up a fresh install of Vice City, and see if the game loads then. shinbun
ok ive created two folders of vice city (one modded one and the other un-modded). ill just copy that one and see if it works. the only thing is, it was crashing with the same message before i even installed any mods. i would just be driving around then the message came up and i would have to restart the game
Jamming
Maybe you have too much things open at once. Before the crash happens would the game be massivly unsynced. Like having some objects freeze and take over the screen while its in some position and soon the screen becomes unreadbale because of all these frozen objects? Because this happens to me before. Try the game in safe mode too.
Justin
it was crashing with the same message before i even installed any mods. In that case, probably what Jamming said. Check out the pinned bug list and try out any solution that seems even semi-applicable. Without mods at first, just to make sure you can get it working no worries. I tried reinstalling but it still did not work? can anyone help me? ( GTA Vice City) I don't understand your problem. Could you try to be more clear? From what I can tell, you're having difficulties beginning the mission 'The Party'. The pink marker isn't there? Perhaps you've completed that mission and have progressed onto the next? I'm sorry, I really can't tell from what you've posted. Does this have any relevance to unhandled exception errors? If not, I'll split it off into its own topic... JDesigns_Unlimited
My game crashes too but I don't think it's because of any mods. Everything I have done was done right. I have a Dell Dimension 2350 (maybe that's why it crashes) running 768mgs of ram and a GeForce 5500 Graphics card. It never crashes in the same place nor in a certain time limit. it just happens unexpectedly. MY GTAIII does it too and I've only modded 4 cars and a building. But then again... maybe I DID do something wrong. One Tiny outa place letter or number and BOOM CRASH!! Out the window goes the computer cuz GTA is so frustrating. Perhaps not your installing of them - it could be poorly designed mods themselves - but it will be the mods all the same. Uninstall them and then fire up Vice City. ..... [EDIT] All right, that's enough. I've split off the most recent post and placed it in its own topic. The way I see it, considering the relative inactivity of the VC forums, each individual's problem merits its own topic (within reason). If you've got a problem that is not directly related to the one at hand, do not post as a reply! Start your own topic for your own problem! Thanks.
