papanesta
I might play it when I get a bit more RAM for my PC. Playing Half Life 2 was great fun, but the loading times and lagging was killer.
Platinum.
I've never bothered to buy Half Life: 2. Is it worth buying it now, or has it become a bit dated?
Hell No..
Well, I would think its worth it without question. A brilliant game. I may get the Episode in the near future. I'm on Twitch! Are you? Come say Hi. https://www.twitch.tv/priceyryan

TommyAngelo
Playing Half Life 2 was great fun, but the loading times and lagging was killer. Thats exactly right, it was a excellent game but the loading times sucked, sucked real hard. Just when your getting into the game, a loading screen comes up, oh and it takes a couple of minutes before it finish's. Oh, I forgot to say anything about Episode One, well I think it's gonna be great but I hope it's not going to be to short. Dunpeal
A couple of minutes? Jesus, i first played it on my uncles PC, and he has 256Mb Ram and it was only like 30seconds. A great game though. I havnt really looked into Ep1 so im not gonna get it just yet.
~Neon~
I've never bothered to buy Half Life: 2. Is it worth buying it now, or has it become a bit dated? Trust me, it's going to be a long time before this game gets "a bit dated". From a story point of view, I have gone through it four times now and not once has it felt repetitive. In fact, each time I have played it it has felt better and better due to me upgrading/building a new PC. And from a technical point its easily a strong contender against newer games. The load times never bothered me. They did a good job putting them in the right places such as in long tunnels etc. Can't wait to get my hands on episode one. MyMothersMySister
I've never bothered to buy Half Life: 2. Is it worth buying it now, or has it become a bit dated? Get it Platty, Played through some of the game and it rocks. You know how addicted I am to BF2 though. Make sure it comes with CC:S. I actually like it but there are far too mny mongs playing. I'd be tempted if there were more Gtaf'ers playing. Messiah To The Animals #Cyclop9
Waste
I love it. I only got to play the first little bit right before the first load. Gonna give it another run in a second.
BroDan
All my credit cards are maxed so I can't buy it It sucks because when I bought HL2 I got the Gold pack or whatever and it cost me $90 at the time, have my cap and everything but then they screw you over and won't let you have Ep 1 Gonna be a few days before any of my card payments clear. S. Leone
Im having a problem. When you and Alyx run into a room and shut the door from the combine and 2 roller mines come, how do u destry them and get out. When I try to pick them up with the gravity gun, they leave little trails
Kippers
This has been out in the UK for like a week now i'm sure of it. I saw it in the shops yesterfay atleast, i was tempted to buy it but want to see a review of it first. havn't read any posts apart from the first one but what's the storyline exactly? Is it just about what Alyx (Or however you spell it) did during the events of HL2? Plus, would i need to have completed HL2 before buying this? Coz i got stuck on HL2 習うより慣れろ
RoAcHcliP
Im loving the graphics and HDR. Also gets pretty spooky at the part i am at, with a new zombie and a horrific train crash. Alyx is a bit annoying though, sometimes she needs to shut up and let me do my thing Im having fun though at the moment. One scene with some sort of giant powercore is breathtaking. I wish i had taken a screen shot of it, but heres a boring one of Alyx and dog for now. Its a very exciting game so far, and i can only imagine whats ahead
Kippers
They just reviewed Episode one on 'on the spot' over at Gamespot. Looks pretty cool, looks like i was wrong, you still play as Gordon though which i'm kind of annoyed about. From what they showed on 'On the spot' it does looks good. 習うより慣れろ

Mike Tequeli
Is buying off steam worth it, because (there is a huge error I won't mention though) I could get it on steam right now or I could buy it in a store later, not sure what to do.

Coz i got stuck on HL2 You might have been able to buy it but I don't think it lets you play until June 1 so its kinda like pre-loading only pre-installing I guess. @Mike - Its quite a bit cheaper on Steam from what I've seen, Its like $23AUS($19.95 US) on steam and like $44 if you buy it in a store or around the $40 mark. Jordan
I played through the first two chapters (5 total) and it's been great so far. The first 10-20 minutes or so are awesome...not because you fight a lot of guys...because of other reasons...go play...
Majestic
Graphically, I think it is one of the best looking games to date. Took me about 4 hours to finish. http://gaiazov.com/hl2ep1/ep1_c17_010129.jpg just one screenshot of 211 I took, so not to spoil
GTA3Freak-2001
With Steam I gather when you purchase a game such as this the game is permantely attached to your Steam account meaning that as long as you have your account details I can always download the games on my account with Steam? You see I bought the boxed retail version of HL2 and have only installed it with the CD so its kinda new to me.

I was loving it. Even though you could only see a small fraction of the screen where your light was, I found myself consentrating alot more and it felt more intense. Fantastic gameplay. I realy like the lighting in this game, it looks amazing. I have spotted a few glitches such as the HDR lighting effect from the torch not lining up with the light texture at some angles. Also, I have noticed Alyx randomly "jumping" from point to point a few times. Overall though, its a very nice addition. Now I just need Episode Two. Mullen
I'll get Episode One once I finish Half Life 2. I'm playing the Ravenholf chapter right now, it's fun, but scary as f*ck.
FiShMaStEr
Just finished it and can sum it up in one word. Wow. Now that was an expansion pack, fun thrilling but unfortunately a bit too short =/ though for $20 that was to be expected. Well worth the money. Now must go download backgrounds of Alyx for unknown reasons...
