Crash Bandicoot
What is Carser City? (or however you spell it) ive heard it advertised on the radio on SA and the other GTAv games, but wat is it?
No Escape?
Carcer City is a fictional city in the world of GTA. Although mentioned, it has yet to make an appearance in a Grand Theft Auto game. It was the backdrop for Rockstar game Manhunt. Does that help?
imut_knight
I remember Carcer City was mentioned on the news flash on one of the radio station in GTAIII Liberty City: about 'corruption of the police chief or something'. Also known as the Ghost Town, where the introduction scene took place. Unsolid town, but you can go there with Dodo
Mainland Marauder
Carcer is also supposed to be the site where the robbery at the start of GTA3 (where Catalina shoots Claude/Fido) takes place. (EDIT: Just read imut's post again and figured out he wasn't talking about the ghost town in SA ) Basically, Carcer is a city based on Midwestern "Rust Belt" cities (e.g. Cleveland) that is in the Rockstar universe. GTA_Loco
Did the robbery at the opening cutscene of GTA3 happen in Carcer City or Liberty City? I thought I saw the name of the bank as "Liberty City Bank"

pdescobar
Did the robbery at the opening cutscene of GTA3 happen in Carcer City or Liberty City? I thought I saw the name of the bank as "Liberty City Bank" I've read variously that it is in Carcer, or in Liberty - which is why I said "supposedly." The robbery takes place in Liberty City, but the "Ghost Town" where the cutscene is "filmed" is stuck up North behind the fake tunnels. Since it was popular to speculate that the tunnels led to Carcer City due to the little news story on GTA3 radio about "nearby Carcer City" some people confuse the two and then claim the Ghost Town is Carcer City. That's all pure speculation though. If you stick to the facts, Carcer City is a Manhunt city that the GTA series likes to reference in radio ads, news stories, etc. and that's it. Nick000
Ahhh, I remember one prank was pulled, they said the tunnels led to Disney Land, and one guy believed them. But does the bank even look like Carser City at all?
Mainland Marauder
Thanks for clearing that up for me, PD. A couple GTA3 guides I've read online (e.g. GameFAQs) have made reference to the robbery taking place in Carcer. FelipeVinhao
@ Nick000 & Mainland Marauder - The bank didn't look like Carcer. And even more, it's written Liberty City Bank on it. So... I just wonder why the hell they didn't add it to the actual city? It was so difficult? Btw, pay close attention to the departures tables of the Liberty Airport showed on GTASA's intro movie. All them have "Carcer City" written somewhere.
Jake
yea really why wasn't in just in the actual city? did they want to do that cut scene too late into development and didn't have a bank in the city or what? And no the bank area really doesn't look like Carcer City, then again all I saw of Carcer is what was in Manhunt. Empty trashed warehouse areas mostly. Mainland Marauder
Felipe, I play on PS2 and the departure tables are an illegible mess of pixels. But I'm guessing this is more clear on PC? Jake
Yea probably since PS2 has the least ammount of power out of the 3 systems its on...I play it on PS2 also, but I'll probably get it for my computer or Xbox soon.

Arrival & Departure signs extracted from PC version and blown up to double-size. You should be able to clearly read Carcer (and the others.) Note how Carcer's flight number starts with MH, probably referring to ManHunt.

I just took this screenie to show it in game context, just to people not think it was photoshopped. It's the #1. #2 are 2 things that I'd love to know. Why there's a city with the main character's last name? Why Tokyo has no fictional name?
Jake
Well they called Vice City "Miami" in GTA III I think so I guess R* don't really think about names until they decide to make a game in that location, but the Johnson part I have no idea.

Yeah u're right. But the difference between Tokyo & Miami is that when GTA3 was released, there was the possibility of the next game take place in Vice/Miami. ... unless their intention is to release next game taking place in Tokyo (and another rumor has just born )
GTA_Loco
Felipe that's an interesting pict. I never noticed that too in my PS2. A bit off topic now, apart from Tokyo, what's #4? So assuming... 1. Liberty GT(?) 2. Vice VC (Vice City?) 3. Carcer MH (Manhunt?) 4. Leith Int(?) JF(?) 5. Tokyo NG(?) 6. Johnson OP(?) Could those infos have any significant reference at all about something? Now I don't mean to blow out of proportion something here, just curious about those written on the flight schedule since Felipe posted this pict. Yes, the one in Chinatown. one one mission you rob it, in other one you steal its securicar. Notice that Johnson is a easter egg. Also that the place is Miami , Vice. Now I don't mean to blow out of proportion something here, just curious about those written on the flight schedule since Felipe posted this pict. Hmm, I've seen a topic like this before. Here are some ideas I've heard though. 1. Liberty GT GT could stand for "Game Three," since Liberty City was the third game in the main series. 5. Tokyo NG NG could mean "Next Game." 4. Leith Int JF Leith is a small town in northern Scotland where Rockstar North is based. "Int" would most likely stand for "International," as in an International Airport, but from what I've heard, Leith doesn't have an airport. I don't know what JF could stand for, though. 6. Johnson OP This is just a random guess, but the "OP" could stand for "One Player," since you play as Carl Johnson. Of course, there's no way to be sure of what these letters stand for. We can make as many guesses as we want about where GTA IV will take place according to this picture from the game, but we aren't going to find out anything until Rockstar releases some more information in the future. Until then, we must play the waiting game. Also, I don't even think Rockstar knew where the next game was going to take place when they created this texture. If anything, they were probably thinking about "Liberty City Stories."
lord fido
A question to anyone that has Manhunt: What parts of Carcer City are shown in Manhunt?
FelipeVinhao
GTA_Loco - After I took the screenshot, I thought Leith could be GTA's London. But once there's already an actual city with this name, and it's close to London too, I threw this idea away... lord fido - Yes, there's an actual bank in Chinatown, that you even do a mission on it. But the one showed in the begining (when Catalina shoots at you), is in the well-known "ghost town" only. Nick000 - He's what I thought: * Liberty GT - It's the 1st city you play in the whole GTA series, so it's mentioned as the 1st of the series. Also, Liberty is the 1st city remade completely in 3D (three dimentions) and it appears in the 3rd (third) game of the series. * Vice VC - Simply Vice City. * Carcer MH - Carcer is in ManHunt, simply that too. * Leith JF - When I believed Leith could be GTA's name for London, I thought it was "just finished". Notice that I don't mean the game, but the model of the city. * Tokyo NG - I was pretty sure it would take place in London, before thinking it could be "next generation", "next game", "new game". But GTA-Freak is also right. * Johnson OP - I agree with ISuck that it's sth related to "one player". I just can't understand why mention the character's last name there. For example, there's no place in GTA3 that mentions what could be the character's name. We knew it in GTASA...
Knightstar Mods
heres my thoughts yeah carser city - never was true in GTA III but one of the next many GTA Games could be based in Carser City, remember.. people have been aruguing of carser city if its true or not for many years now and theres no pictures or videos, so what i say about carser city in gta 3 is false.. it never was in there. Liberty City Bank - No no, that opening you saw of GTA III was all based in a place called "Ghost Town" where you can head to if you find the locations and go there (not solid) Airport (Carser) - that could all mean such as a flight to carser city in man hunt maybe that what explains the MH been there and Vice is obvois.. All this carser city thing mainly is like saying, in San Andreas in one of the missions you had to get a plane and fly to liberty city.. its just like saying thats true.. but its not.. but you can get there because there has been proof that in SA you can go to Liberty city again , cause they have been screenshots and lots more to proove it. Big Foot - that was spoosely spoosed to be in GTA SA but there is only 1 photo to proove it but its beleived to be fake. UFO - there have been sightings of them in GTA SA but some people say there fake. Ghost CJ Mum - some say if you go into cj's house at 1 o clock at night you can see CJ mum as a ghost, wondering arround the house.. belived to be not true. Thats coverd most stuff any way guys, like i say its YOUR opinions, if you think something is true what i said isn't well thats your opinion, im not going to mind, because for all i know, something what i said is false maybe is true.. Who knows in these games.. But i hope i have helped you all out abit anyways - I Rest My Case -

CJ's mom wonders around the house. hmmm, what was she wondering about, if bigfoot exists in san andreas? ? i mean really, it's wandering. anyways, what do you mean by "that covered most of the stuff"? we weren't even talking about all that sh*t. so no, you didn't help "abit". i'm sorry. better luck next time. moron. no offense.
