No Escape?
This most likely has been brought up and discussed before, so sorry if that is the case, but I found nothing in my searches. How about a Literature Forum? Basically, a place for topics about novels, short stories, magazines, newspapers, poetry, screenplays, essays...you know, all things in and about literature. I realize many of the suggested topics could be placed in General Chat, but we already have a TV and Movie Discussion, Video Game Chat...it's logical to make a place for book-worms and aspiring authors alike to share their opinions. You can argue GTAF has "enough forums as is", but I don't think one more could hurt. Thoughts?
Mainland Marauder
Well, there is the Writer's Discussion but it's mainly a place for people to write their own stuff rather than discuss literature. I've been a proponent of moving the many GTA fanfics that are in SA General Discussion to either this forum or a new one. "You tell me exactly what you want, and I'll explain to you very carefully why it cannot be."
No Escape?
Fair enough, James, but as you said, it's not neccessarily a place for talking about, say, Lord of the Flies. With a Literature Forum, it opens up a place to discuss the positives and negatives of novels. Or, if there's a certain author you like, you can ask about their other work. Ask about poetry, a short story you've read...there are many possibilities. In my opinion, anyway. The only problem I can forsee is inactiveness; although I would try my best to keep the forum buzzing, many may not find the time or will to create a topic about a book they read. It all comes down to how many people would contribute regularly... a very fickle thing indeed.
Justin
Well, there is the Writer's Discussion but it's mainly a place for people to write their own stuff rather than discuss literature. I've been a proponent of moving the many GTA fanfics that are in SA General Discussion to either this forum or a new one. Writer's Discussion is inactive. How about the forum is renamed to Literature Discussion, which can encompass all those things No Escape? detailed whilst still remaining a place to post your own work for public viewing, too? I'd see this as quite a mature/formal/looking-for-a-better-word-right-now place for discussion (at least comparatively), so I'd personally be against moving GTA-based fan stories there. Another "new forum" idea! Forum Suggestions Although the topic description makes up for it.
No Escape?
Another "new forum" idea! Forum Suggestions I believe, good sir, I made an oopsie. But! Fuzzy's suggestion is acutely better then mine. Literature Discussion would indeed be decorous name; a place to post all things to do with reading and writing. Two birds with one stone, you see. Any mods around to have a say? Jonny_Tightlips
First make a literature thread, and keep it active for a month. Then, more bookworms will start popping in, and more topics will be made about books and such. Then, it will be forum-worthy. I tried step one, but failed miserably. ...besides that I ain't sayin nuthin.
Sixdust
A simple name change of the writers discussion is more than good enough. And it may help spark some intrest about literacy.
