delfick
hi I recently switched from windows to Ubuntu Dappe... The only problem with this is that all my programs and games are on windows not linux... I got it so that pretty much the only time i need to go into windows is to play games The game i primarily use is MTASA because it is awsome. So i installed wine, and then checked to see if at least GTASA worked, os i go into the terminal go to the location where gtasa is located and type nonXgl wine gta_sa.exe (the nonXgl part because i have Xgl and that command turns it off the application being run) And then it tells me that it couldn't find the Sound Card... I'm not sure if this is the right place to post this (the more i think about it the more unsure i am) but i am still hoping that someone could help me with this... thnx
Black-hawk
I'm not on expert on this, but I remember stumbling across a forum of Linux gamers, and some of them had SA running on their linux boxes. Here's the link, only according to the message, they're closed for maintenance. Wait for it to get back on-line. They had some very usefull tut's on how to get DX games running (Including SA). I do recall them posting that they had more success with Nvidia cards than ATI's btw. With screenshots and everything.
magical_trevor
For running games, I would suggest cedega, rather than wine.. this screenshot appears to show it working
Waste
Cedega definetly works becuase I use it myself. I've played WoW with it, all the Steam games, GTA SA, GTA VC, Far Cry, COD2, and way more than that. The only thing you need to keep in mind while using it, DO NOT expect it to be an easy task to get a game running. Also, the majority of the time you will not get performance like it would running on Windows.
