JoeyLeone25
I've tried everything and this is seriously pissing me off to the point where I'm going to march to Bill Gates home and kill the f*cker. There are three computers in my house. Family Computer which is wired up to the router. -> XP My computer which is wireless. -> XP And my Dad's laptop which is wireless. -> XP However, since Saturday morning it's been f*cking me about, by this I mean I can get on some websites, but not others. E.g. I can get on BBC Sport, Yahoo and Google, however I can't click-through a link from Google. And sometimes (like now) only two websites seem to be working GTAF and FM4Rums (another forum I visit). And it happens on both mine and my fathers computer. I use FF and he uses IE, however it's the same ol' 'can't load this' bullsh*t on each browser. I've tried everything (turning router off, changing settings etc) bar completely setting up the connection again. It just randomly started happening Saturday morning and ever since we've tried every f*cking thing and nothing seems to get the connection back to f*cking normal. Anybody got any idea's on what it could be/what we need to do etc? Cheers, Anomalous Material.com <--> AMF Multiplayer Topic Join Quidco and get Cashback for buying things online! kingvercetti
Have you updated any of the PCs with Automatic Updates? 'Cos one time after I updated, the net wouldnt work, and I had to re-install my firewall. If you have one try re-installing it, dunno is that will work though. riccbhard
When you get the not found message, try to visit the page again. I bet it will work. This has been a problem all over big parts of the internet. DNS Server problems. It's been taking 2 trys to get websites to load.
Forfit
You could turn off the router, and then the computer, wait about 20 seconds and turn them back on. Get ahold of your ISP and see what's up because most the time my internet is down they are working on something, and the reasons for google and GTAF and those sites working for you may be because it's in your cache and temp files. PresidentKiller
Oh yeah, the Internet doesn't work, let's chase Bill Gates... and since my toaster doesn't work either, let's kill him while we are at it... If NONE of your computers' Internet work properly, and they all use the same Internet connection, it's more likely to be a router or ISP problem than a Windows problem. Most routers come with a "Reset" button or setting, you should try that (write down any specific settings before attempting this just so you can restore them later). If resetting the router didn't work, well, call your ISP.
Spenc938
There could be something in your house interfering with the wireless.
facugaich
Oh yeah, the Internet doesn't work, let's chase Bill Gates... and since my toaster doesn't work either, let's kill him while we are at it... I had the same problem a few weeks ago, it had never happened to me before. I'm sure the problem was in the DNS Servers since when I reloaded a few times it found the host. Yet, I'm on the other side of the world. The fact that you hadn't had that problem doesn't mean no one has it or that he's making it up, and surely doesn't give you the right to him. Hmmm... where do these people come from anyway? I posted that because not every single computer problem has to do with Microsoft, Windows, Bill Gates, the Cookie Monster or whatever. Besides, I posted some possible solutions to his problem afterwards.
Edwards
This is entirely for the sake of getting more information. Start a command line (run: cmd) and use nslookup to try resolving some domain names. Examples: nslookup google.com (or another site you've been to recently that works) nslookup dpreview.com (or another site you've haven't been to in a while, or better yet, have never heard of) And tell us what you get. To make things quicker, you can copy from cmd by right clicking and selecting Mark, selecting whatever text you want, and hitting enter to copy. (I'm relying here on the assumption that winxp has nslookup. Some random site says yes, but I can't be sure because I have cygwin installed here and it probably provides nslookup) It's quite possible that your DNS server is failing. It could be your ISP's DNS servers at fault, or it could be your router causing problems. sysnode.org

K^2
Try getting a ping from the servers that you can't get connection to. For example, to ping Google, type in "ping www.google.com" in the comand prompt, minus the quotes. See if the IP shows up and if the ping goes through. Two main possibilities: 1) You get no IP: Something is wrong with your ISP's DNS cache. Contact the ISP. 2) You get IP, but no repply to ping: Your ISP is blocking some servers, intentionaly or not. Contact the ISP. Prior to filing a bug against any of my code, please consider this response to common concerns.
