Game crashes before it even opens.

So I've had San Andreas for a few months now, and it's been doing this a lot.

 

When I click on the icon to open the game, the screen will go black, as it does when you start the game, but instead of coming up with the logos for the graphics people, etc, it just comes up with the classic "gta_sa.exe has encountered a problem and has to close" etc. It doesn't do this every single time, but it's still stopping me from playing it when I want to. I've looked on the internet for a solution, but can't find anyone with the same problem as me. Can anyone help?
