Question about Hydra (military jet) on PC

On the PC, how do I change the Hydra controls from hover mode to jet mode? Is there a key on the keyboard where I can do this? I know on PS2 you use the analog sticks, but I don't have that for the PC. So on the keyboard, what can I use to switch back and forth between hover and jet mode?

you're playing vertical bird, right? it says on your screen when you get into the hydra, doesn't it? anwyay, the default keys are the 2 and the 8 on your number pad, but they are whatever keys correspond to SPECIAL CONTROL UP and SPECIAL CONTROL DOWN in your controller configuration option menu (the same you use to raise and lower the forklift). other controls are the same as for other planes. don't forget to retract your landing gear! and don't switch to jet mode until you have gained some altitude. good luck!

No, I'm not playing Vertical Bird. I have the Hydra at the airstrip.

 

I completed all the missions last summer. I took a long break from SA (due to school) and now I'm back at it to get 100%. I just didn't remember how to switch between hover and jet blast.

The default keys are NUM8 and NUM2

NUM8= jets forward

NUM2= downward for hover

whatever they are, they are retarded, I gave up on this game just because of this mission with the controls used.

My controller is horrible for this game (saitek p880)

That's because the gamepad died in the early 90s. Play with the keyboard and mouse. Or keyboard and trackball if you like that. But a gamepad is roundly inferior to a keyboard and a free-moving pointing device. I can't even play GTAs on my buddy's PS2.
