*Legend of the Pheonix...

*First and foremost, I know that this topic has been discussed - but upon searching, I found no real answer. (Nothing solid enough to believe...) So aside from just ASKING this question, I want to make a couple inconsiquential comments to keep the good times rolling here at the board...

 

THE PHEONIX

 

- I can't for the life of me understand why Rockstar would model this car, give it the ability to be modded at a Transfender, than NOT locate a spawn/parked location for it anywhere on the entire map. IMO, this makes no sense at all. The Euros is another rarity in the game, but unlike the Pheonix, it becomes available to purchase at the docks in San Fierro after you complete the import/export checklist. Excellent - but it doesn't help me find and garage a Pheonix.

 

- You may ask yourself... why the heck do I want a Pheonix so bad?? The answer: SIMPLY BECAUSE IT'S RARE!! Now I know you can enter the "all cars are racecars" code, (not sure if that's what it's called,) to see a Pheonix rolling down the street every couple seconds: but if the code is in, the code is in. I don't want my game permanantly stuck in racecar mode... so what other options do I have? Somebody had mentioned that they "saw a Pheonix spawn in a driveway in Los Santos," but that isn't much for me to go off of. Any suggestions, comments, or "USE THE SEARCH FUNCTIONS" to contribute. (For all of you negative-Nancy's out there.)

the simplest way to get the phoenix is to start the race "san fierro hills," in which you are driving a phoenix. instead of completing the race, drive to one of your garages and park it there. get yourself disqualified. you'll be transported back to the race selection screen, but the phoenix will be waiting for you in your garage. enjoy it!

I have found that trying to store race vehicles in a garage and then letting time expire is not reliable for me. Far too often with that method, they disappear, although I might be doing something wrong. Instead, I suggest starting the San Fierro Hills race, driving back to Wang Autos and parking in front of the pay & spray, then getting out and letting the timer expire. Once the race is failed, exit the selection screen, turn around, and the Phoenix will still be there. You can then store it wherever you want. That method has never failed me.

 

The Phoenix could also technically be stolen from the "A Home in the Hills" mission since that's the car driven by Big Papa, who you have to chase down and kill at the end of the mission but it's a huge pain in the rear compared to stealing it from the race.

 

Obligatory Negative Nancy Note: searching would have covered this, but only if you spelled "phoenix" right.

That's kind of weird PD, the method mentioned by quartet worked countless for me for all the racing vehicles as well as the aircrafts. Could be an XBox thing?

 

@Knockout, if you're desperate to use the convenience of a cheat, just re-enter the code to deactivate it The race option as mentioned by quartet would be your best bet to get a Phoenix, second would be the Home in the Hills mission as explained by PD. You can have one too in a "start and cancel" vigilante mission but by far this is the hardest way. This would be useful only if you plan to proof one in the "Grey Imports" mission in Los Santos1.

*Thanks guys - but I still don't understand: why would Rockstar make this vehicle so difficult to aquire?? The solutions you guys provided are simple, don't get me wrong: but what made this car so special that Rockstar chose to give it no spawn location, OR parked location?

as you said in your first post, the phoenix is special (for you) simply because it is rare. so, really, you're the one who has decided it is special, not rockstar. in fact, if rockstar had given it a spawn point, it wouldn't be rare and, therefore, it wouldn't be special. ok, if i go on like this, i'll only confuse myself.

 

thing is, there are tons of vehicles in the game, too many, i guess, for all to have spawn points or make regular appearances. the phoenix just happens to be one of the rarer ones. what is cool is that, if you want one (for whatever reason), there is a way to acquire one - you just have to figure out how (or, as you did, ask here at the forums). it's another example of what makes the game so rich: you can constantly find new things to challenge you while playing. and that's something we need plenty of since GTA4 is so far in the future.

 

as for the SWAT, can't you just get a four star wanted level and then jack one? or am i confusing it with something else?

- But as far as the Phoenix "being special and rare to me," I disagree. If the vehicle was given no spawn locations or parked locations, than it is indeed a rarity. I used the Euros as an example of a sweet car that you ALSO don't see driving around any of the cities - but the difference is, Rockstar gave you an alternative way to aquire one. I honestly think Rockstar just forgot to give it spawn locations... They didn't forget about the vehicle ENTIRELY because like you guys said, it can be seen in races and it was included in a cheat - but for all we know, the vehicles could of been modeled - the missions/cheats could of been created next - than the vehicle spawn locations followed, thus meaning it could of been forgotten. Is any of this important or relevant to anything??

- The keyword here was IF, and the fact of the matter is: Rockstar DIDN'T give it a spawn point, thus making it harder to come by.

its in...

C:\Program Files\Rockstar Games\GTA San Andreas\data

 

use notepad to open

 

now find...

 

greenwoo, savanna, voodoo                                      # Gang 2 (FAMILIES - PLAYER - BLACK)

 

 

and turn it into...

 

phoenix, swatvan, fbitruck                                    # Gang 2 (FAMILIES - PLAYER - BLACK)

 

 

 

your gang will now have all the super hard to find cars

 

note: this will work for v2 users too

or if you want normal people to drive it, put the phoenix in one of the other groups. it's not hard. just open the file with notepad, and when you study it a bit you see it's very simple. (if you have the PC version ofcourse)

We can forgive him for that spelling mistake. After all, Rockstar themselves made that same mistake in the Vice City data files. Then again, the programmers didn't know how to spell Colombians either.

If I'm remembering it correctly, as early as GTA3 they've also spelled Colombians with a "u" after "l'. Oh well, it's a great game anyway. Just consider it as a spelling glitch

I play the PS2 version but I still want one with a KARR licence plate......being BP/FP/EP/DP.....would be cool too.....I don't use cheats but am tempted to just to make one if I find a phoenix that has a plate like that.....I would settle for a KITE , KYTT , KITT or even KATT.......yeah.....that would make my week! .....anybody agree..?..

Nope, your wrong, I'm 100% sure they go after you with 4 stars, although they are rarer than the other polices vehicles, they are quite often used in road blocks.

Or oh I've got it KRITTAR or just KRITT or KRATE or I still think KRITTAR would be a great stab at it for ol time sake but the rest of you probrably would like it better it yoiu could pull D.H. caracter M.K. out of the pheonix and punch him in the face or strap him to the car and roll......anybody?....GTA4 we have a cameo for you! .....there are plenty of easter eggs in GTA so I don't think it is too off base but I still want the KRITTER licence plate on an indestructible Pheonix........anyone?
